Thailand showcases regional leadership and investment potential in Russia

Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul concluded his visit to the Russian Federation by promoting Thailand as a gateway to ASEAN, encouraging Russian investment, supporting Eurasian free trade talks, and advancing regional cooperation on trade, connectivity, and security.

KAZAN, Russia – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has concluded his visit to the Russian Federation, where he attended the Special ASEAN-Russia Summit in Kazan and promoted Thailand’s role as a regional hub for trade, investment, and connectivity. During the visit, the prime minister addressed the ASEAN-Russia Business Forum, presenting Thailand as a strategic gateway to the ASEAN market of more than 700 million people. Anutin invited Russian investors to use Thailand as a base for regional expansion, citing the country’s advantages in infrastructure, logistics, and emerging industries, including data centers, semiconductors, the digital economy, clean energy, food production, healthcare, and the green economy.


The premier also proposed closer cooperation with Russia in connectivity, trade and investment, and people-to-people exchanges, while reaffirming Thailand’s support for negotiations on a free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union to expand market access and economic opportunities.

At the summit, Anutin presented the “3Rs” concept of Regionalism, Resilience, and Relevance, calling for cooperation to promote regional peace and stability, improve food, energy, and supply chain security, combat cybercrime and human trafficking, and develop future skills. He also joined discussions on economic connectivity between ASEAN and the Eurasian region, met Thai business executives operating in Russia, and held an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah of Brunei Darussalam to discuss cooperation in food security, agriculture, energy, public health, wellness tourism, and investment.
