Royal Thai Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Gen Ukrit Boontanon met security officials in Pattani to assess operations under the 2026 plan, reaffirming military support and intelligence coordination amid ongoing efforts to maintain stability in the southern border provinces.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Royal Thai Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief General Ukrit Boontanon has visited the southern border provinces to review security operations and strengthen coordination among agencies working in the region.

Gen Ukrit met with military and security officials at the Internal Security Operations Command Region 4 Forward Command in Pattani province, where he received updates on the situation and operational challenges. The commander-in-chief was welcomed by Fourth Army Area Commander Lt Gen Norathip Poinok and senior officers overseeing security efforts.



Authorities discussed ongoing work under the 2026 development and security plan, which involves coordination among military, civilian, and community sectors. Officials said conditions have improved compared with the same period last year, although incidents remain varied and require continued vigilance.

Gen Ukrit reaffirmed the armed forces’ support, including intelligence capabilities, to strengthen operations, adding that the visit would improve coordination among agencies working to maintain stability and support long-term development in the southern border provinces. (NNT)
