BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Commerce has announced strict measures to stabilize the prices of consumer goods and daily essentials, ensuring fair pricing and adequate supply to mitigate the impact of the current economic situation on the public.

Inspector General and Deputy Spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce Kanitha Kungsawanich stated that the Ministry has imposed price controls on a wide range of products, including ready-to-eat and canned foods, powdered and ready-to-drink milk, daily products, and organic fertilizers.

Manufacturers are required to notify the Ministry and obtain permission before implementing any price adjustments.

The Department of Internal Trade has been directed to ensure that all pricing remains appropriate and reflects actual production costs. The Ministry is engaging in consultations with committees and relevant stakeholders to gather comprehensive feedback.

Provincial governors and local commerce officers have been deployed to inspect retail outlets nationwide, ensuring that displayed prices are accurate and that businesses are not unfairly hoarding stock.

The Ministry is rolling out key relief measures, including expanding fair-price outlets through the Blue Flag initiative to provide affordable consumer goods and offering discounted agricultural equipment via the Green Flag project to assist farmers.

Authorities emphasize that these measures are designed to help citizens navigate the current crisis effectively. Anyone who encounters unfair trade practices or price gouging is encouraged to report them immediately via the Department of Internal Trade’s 1569 hotline. (NNT)
