PATTAYA, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) has forecast changing weather conditions across Thailand between February 8–11, with thunderstorms expected in the early period followed by cooler temperatures and stronger winds in upper regions.

Over the next 24 hours, temperatures across upper Thailand are set to rise slightly, accompanied by morning fog. Cooler to cold conditions will still be felt in the North and Northeast, while the Central and Eastern regions will experience cool mornings before warming later in the day. This change is due to a weakening high-pressure system that has been covering the region.

In the East, including coastal provinces, light rain is possible in some areas as southeasterly winds bring moisture inland. Residents are advised to take care of their health as temperatures fluctuate and to exercise caution when travelling through foggy areas.

Pattaya and the eastern seaboard will remain warm, with daytime temperatures climbing into the low-to-mid 30s Celsius. While some light coastal showers are possible, overall conditions are expected to stay stable, making Pattaya warmer than many parts of the country during the period.

Southern Thailand will continue to see scattered thunderstorms, particularly in the lower Gulf of Thailand, where moderate winds will generate waves of 1–2 metres, rising above 2 metres during storms. Mariners are urged to navigate with caution in both the Gulf of Thailand and the Andaman Sea.

Looking ahead, the TMD warns that between February 8–11, a moderate to fairly strong cold air mass from China will move over upper Thailand and the South China Sea. This will initially trigger thunderstorms before temperatures drop and winds strengthen.

Air quality remains a concern, with moderate to high dust and haze accumulation reported in the Northeast, Central region, Bangkok and surrounding provinces, and parts of the East, due to weak wind conditions and poor air circulation.
