BANGKOK, Thailand – Advance voting for the 2026 House of Representatives election began nationwide, with steady turnout reported from early morning in several areas.

In Bangkok, voters arrived steadily after polls opened. Photos showed a steady turnout at the Rat Burana central advance polling station in Constituency 25, where ballots were cast in an orderly manner.

In Yala Province, turnout was high, and officials estimate participation could exceed 80 percent. Officials have been instructed to remain neutral and strengthen security. Meanwhile, the Election Commission Yala Office deployed volunteer territorial defense units to assist with name verification. Security personnel and military units, including trained dogs, were stationed to ensure safety at polling areas.

In Sa Kaeo Province, soldiers stationed along the border—many originating from Kanchanaburi, Prachin Buri, and Saraburi—also turned out in large numbers to vote early. The constituency recorded nearly 5,000 registered advance voters, the highest figure in the province.

Registered advance voters can cast ballots until 5 P.M. After polls close, polling station committees will sort and seal ballot envelopes and forward them to voters’ respective constituencies. These ballots will be counted together with election-day votes on February 8, 2026. (NNT)
