
BANGKOK, Thailand – The First Army Region has requested that Cambodia’s Fifth Military Region prepare an evacuation plan for Cambodian residents by October 7, ahead of a special regional border committee (RBC) meeting scheduled from October 10-13.
According to reports, the First Army sent an urgent letter to the Fifth Military Region of Cambodia, emphasizing that the evacuation plan must cover three areas along the Thai-Cambodian border: Ban Nong Jan and Ban Nong Ya Kaeo in Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, and Ban Ta Phraya in Ta Phraya District, Sa Kaeo Province. The plan must be submitted to the First Army and presented during the RBC meeting for Thailand’s participation to proceed.
The RBC meeting will be hosted by Cambodia in Banteay Meanchey Province and chaired jointly by Lt. Gen. Ek Somon, Deputy Commander of the Cambodian Army and Commander of the Fifth Military Region, along with Lt. Gen. Worayas Luangsuwan, Commander of Thailand’s First Army Region. Major Sarayut Chantraprayong, Assistant Operations Officer of the First Army, has been assigned as coordinator for the matter. (TNA)
