BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand and China celebrated a significant milestone in their bilateral relationship today with the launch of the Thailand–China Cooperation Expo 2025. This year’s event holds special meaning as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The opening ceremony took place at Impact Challenger Hall in Muang Thong Thani, with Privy Council President General Surayud Chulanont presiding. Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul also delivered a keynote address to mark the occasion.

In his remarks, General Surayud emphasized the enduring friendship between the two nations, noting that cooperation has grown across all sectors—government, private enterprise, and civil society. He echoed the sentiment that China and Thailand are not distant neighbors, but “brothers,” reflecting deep-rooted ties that have strengthened over time.

Prime Minister Anutin highlighted the importance of the past five decades of collaboration, saying that they have built a solid foundation for even broader cooperation in the years to come. He outlined five key areas where future partnerships are expected to deepen: infrastructure and logistics connectivity, green and clean energy, digital technology and innovation, agriculture and food security, and people-to-people exchanges.

He also reaffirmed the Thai government’s commitment to eliminating barriers and supporting business operations, aiming to position Thailand as a regional hub for trade, investment, and innovation, as well as a strategic gateway for broader cooperation within ASEAN.

The expo itself offers a diverse range of activities. These include an exhibition of products and services from Chinese companies operating in Thailand, business networking opportunities, and a job fair with over 1,000 positions offered by more than 40 Chinese firms. An education fair is also being held, featuring over 200 scholarships from Chinese universities and additional scholarships from Thai institutions. More than 30 educational booths from both countries are participating in the event. (NNT)
