BANGKOK, Thailand – Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, led by Permanent Secretary Yupha Taweewattanakitborvon, attended a cultural program on September 26 at Wat Suthat Thepwararam. The event featured performances by students from Benjamarachalai School, under the Royal Patronage, and a live Khon show by the Prayut Dao Tai Troupe, attracting a large audience.
Students presented Thai dance, music, and folk art, giving young performers an opportunity to showcase their skills while celebrating cultural heritage.
The Prayut Dao Tai Troupe staged a unique version of Khon, retelling the Ramakien epic in spoken verse with humor and improvisation. The troupe blended classical storytelling with new compositions, modern lighting, sound, costumes, and acrobatics, creating a performance that combined tradition with contemporary appeal.
The program has run daily since September 20 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of His Majesty King Ananda Mahidol (Rama VIII). Wat Suthat Thepwararam, situated in the heart of Bangkok, offers a historic backdrop for this celebration of Thai culture.
September 27, is the closing day of the event, featuring performances by the Art Association for Youth and a Likay show by the Chaiya Mitchai Troupe. The public is invited to attend in traditional Thai attire and share the celebration through the official Facebook page of the Prime Minister’s Office. (NNT)
