KUWAIT CITY, Oct 17 – Thailand and Bahrain have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation on food, energy and financial activities, Thai government spokeswoman Sansanee Narkpong said today.

During their discussion on the sidelines of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue summit, Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra informed Bahrain’s head of state King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa that two regional bodies—the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Gulf Cooperative Council (GCC)—could serve as mechanisms in accelerating the Thai-Bahraini cooperation.

In a separate bilateral talk with her Pakistani counterpart, Ms Yingluck and Raja Pervej Ashraf agreed to Thai-Pakistan committee meeting in January to discuss closer investment cooperation and exchanges of visits among officials at different levels.

The Thai premier expressed her appreciation on Pakistan’s support of Thailand’s resolution of its southern problems in the recent meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference (OIC).
