Sewage kills fish in E. Pattaya canal

A suspected sewage overflow has killed fish and sent noxious fumes over an East Pattaya neighborhood.

Reporters responded to complaints posted by a foreign resident to an online forum about the canal off Sukhumvit Soi 2 near Jittapawan College Jan. 11 following recent rain and flooding.

There wasn’t much rubbish in the canal, but there were a lot of dead fish, some were rotting and sending strong odors over homes nearby.

An unidentified foreign resident said recently a quantity of “black water” suspected to be wastewater flowed from an unknown source into the canal.

He said he posted his beef in English on an online forum and called the Pattaya Call Center, but no one from city hall responded.
