The Thai distributor of Nivea Sun cream donated 2,000 beach umbrellas to Pattaya to help protect beachgoers from Thailand’s powerful rays.
Chaweena Jitsomboon, marketing manager for the personal-care products brand manufactured by Germany’s Beiersdorf AG, presented the branded umbrellas to Pattaya Acting Mayor Chanapong Sriviset and Pattaya Beach vendor representative Pradit Homchuen at city hall Feb. 8.
Thailand has a UV rating of 11+ most days, yet some people do not realize the damage the sun does to their skin.
Nivea says its sunblock cream is the best way to prevent burns and even skin cancer when beachgoers are outside their umbrellas, as Nivea has been around for 80 years.
The umbrellas have been distributed to vendors on Pattaya and Jomtien beaches.
