In the wake of the latest deadly explosions in Mumbai, Director-General of the Information Department and Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Thani Thongpakdi cited the Thai Consulate in Mumbai as confirming that no Thai citizens were affected by the incident. According to the report, there are around 50-60 Thais residing in the western Indian city. All of them can still be reached and have been urged to be on high alert during this period.
Earlier, the United Nations Security Council condemned the attack, which took place in three neighborhoods of Mumbai on the night of 13 July, indicating that terrorism continued to be the greatest threat to world peace. No one has claimed responsibility for the blasts so far while the Indian government has ordered tighter security in all major cities nationwide.
However, the Indian Ministry of Interior has lowered the death toll to 17 from the initial figure of 21 while the number of injuries currently stands at 133.
