BANGKOK, 28 September 2013 Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi said the overall flooding situation in Thailand is not worrisome as 2 major dams are still capable of holding up to 10 billion cubic meters of water.

During the “PM Yingluck Meets the People” program on NBT, Deputy Prime Minister Plodprasop Suraswadi mentioned about the flooding situation in Thailand, saying the amount of water measured this year is close to last year as there is nothing to worry about. He said the 2 major dams, Bhumibol and Sirikit, still have the capability to contain water up to 10 billion cubic meters, adding the chances of water in the north coming to the central region are very slim.

However, the deputy prime minister expressed his concerns about Prachinburi Province as the water level in the rivers of Prachinburi is highest in 26 years.

Lastly, Mr. Plodprasop has assured the Bangkokians that the capital will not experience flood similar to the one in 2011. However, precautionary measures are taken and the officials are fully prepared in case of emergency.
