A Russian man apparently hung himself in a Jomtien Beach hotel after his wife left him.
The body of Alexandre Ivanov, 55, was found hanging from shoelaces in the bathroom of his hotel room near Soi 16 Dec. 27. Authorities believe he’d been dead for about four hours.
Hotel staffer Urai Phaokhaeng said Ivanov and his wife had checked in on Christmas but that after a round of heavy drinking, the victim allegedly had physically assaulted his wife, who then called their tour guide and left.
She returned at 9 a.m. to find the door locked and no response. After waiting several hours, she had the door opened and found her husband dead.
