The funds handed out came from the national government’s flood-disaster compensation fund. While Pattaya suffered nowhere near the flooding damage of central Thailand or Bangkok, families could qualify for the stipend if they had to evacuate their homes quickly or lived in flooded conditions for seven days.

Flood victim Jaroon Sukhsomjit said he appreciated the continued government support and hopes to have his home and life restore to pre-flood conditions soon.
