BANGKOK, Sept 7 – Twenty-nine of 70 franchise businesses have been officially recognised by the Commerce Ministry this year for achieving its stringent franchise quality standard.

Official certificates and recognitions were presented to the 29 successful proprietors by Deputy Commerce Minister Siriwat Kachornprasart at the Thailand Franchise Quality Award (TFQA) 2012, held in Bangkok recently.

Business Development Department Director General Bunyong Limprayoonwong said the award was created to develop Thailand’s franchise competitiveness domestically and internationally in readiness for the ASEAN Economic Community in 2015.

He said the recipients were judged from their performance, business development and efficiency to stay competitive in the global market.

The 29 franchise proprietors are from five business categories: food and beverages (13), service (6), education (6), retailing (3) and beauty/spa (1).

Among them, eight were given the Best Franchise of The Year Award 2012 while the Outstanding Franchise of the Year Award were offered to seven eligibility categories—vision, organisational strategy, customer creativity, educational development, human resource, process management and business turnover.
