Fishing Report
Dene Mundy
Two trips in succession to report about this week, both in perfect
fishing conditions which is quite a luxury after the last two months or so.
On Sept. 1, with 6 of us fishing, we managed to land 7 grey cod of over 2
kilos plus good quantities of yellow tail, grouper and pla-dang. Sollie was
the only one to miss out catching a large cod but he compensated that with a
nice speckled grouper of around 1½ kilos – a great fish.
With such great fishing and quiet seas, we all returned in high spirits and
not as weary as in prior trips which proved quite taxing with the rough
waters and high winds.
Our trip on Sept. 6 was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions but we
were out again on Sept. 10 to compensate. The same 6 participants from the
previously cancelled trip set out from Khram in much improved fishing
conditions – light winds, absence of swells and slightly cloudy skies.
Fishing was brisk in the morning with all of us landing good sized snapper,
grouper and pla-dang. However, as the day progressed, the tides increased
and fishing became more difficult and the fish were not as plentiful. Then
the cloudy skies cleared to become bright blue and the seas were like glass.
The conditions were so great in contrast with recent trips it more than
compensated for the slower than usual number of fish caught.
Only one large grey cod of 2 plus kilo was landed for the day but overall
the bag catches were around 5–7 kilos for all.
The trip for 29 September is now fully booked but for information about
future excursions, call myself (Dene) on 081 862 6279.

Blacky & Kae win at Century Chonburi
PSC Golf from The Growling Swan

Peter Blackburn, Peter
Grey & Kae.
Peter Blackburn
Monday, September 10,
Century Chonburi – Stableford
Amongst the 19 golfers signed up for the day’s
competition were newcomers Martin Ainsworth from Pattaya and previously
South Wales, plus Mike Chaffey also from Pattaya and previously San
Diego, California. They were afforded a hearty welcome and a fond
farewell was given to Tony Olcorn who was returning to Queensland,
Australia on Thursday.
For most of us it had been some time since we had
played at Century Chonburi and we had received mixed reports regarding
the golf course so I for one was very interested in finding out what all
the fuss was about.
We departed The Growling Swan in 2 mini vans a couple
of minutes ahead of schedule at 8.28 am and were travelling OK until we
experienced several lengthy delays at some of the traffic lights on 331.
This, coupled with the pothole ridden road after turning off the
highway, caused a much longer than normal trip time of 70 minutes.
Growling Swan Mine host, Peter Grey was complaining about the bumps and
the effect it was having on his “sore back” and we had a feeling that
this would be an attempted excuse later on when certain awards were
handed out.

Thientong Charoenrung &
Graham Buckingham.
After waiting for a Thai two-ball to tee off, our
first group was able to get away 5 minutes later than our booked time of
10.00 am and in fine but overcast weather we proceeded at a fairly good
pace. It was not a good start for our 1-handicapper in the group, Mike
Allidi, who hit his first tee shot long & left and could not find his
ball, so off his handicap he was naturally playing “catch up” golf from
thereon in.
After a few holes we got some light rain which made
umbrellas necessary but it didn’t last too long and although fairly hot
& humid playing conditions were quite good with very little wind. As far
as the condition of the course was concerned we all agreed it was in
very good shape with some of the greens quite quick and others a bit
furry and slow. It was suggested that the Head Greenkeeper had been
arguing with his Missus early that morning as some of the pin positions
were fairly treacherous, like “on the side of a mountain”!
On the down side we discovered that a Thai 6-ball had
jumped onto the 10th tee in front of us and whilst
this did cause some delays it wasn’t too bad and we finished our round
in four hours & twenty minutes.
In summary this golf course is a “steal” at 100 baht
green fee and even with the sparse dressing room & restaurant facilities
it is well worth the visit and we will most certainly be returning at a
later date. I must also mention that the golf course is a great layout
and whilst not perhaps having the “beauty” of some of the other courses
it is certainly a challenge as was proved when only one golfer was able
to play to his handicap.
We were able to have 2 grades with four podium spots
in each. A Grade was for handicaps 0 to 19 and B Grade for 20 and over.
We had nearest the pins on all the par threes which were sponsored by
The Growling Swan, Mike Gosden, North Heidelberg Football Club & Max
Bracegirdle. We also had longest first putts on the 9th
& 18th greens which were kindly sponsored by the
guys from Mandurah Country Club.
Your writer managed to return to some decent form and
won the A Grade with a steady 36 points from Stu “Heineken” Rifkin 1
point further back in second place. The consistent Martin Todd (18 point
back nine) finished third with 32 points in a count back from Alain
Taddei (15 point back nine) in fourth spot.
The B Grade was won by Duanjai Tusagad (Kae) with 35
points and on 34 points came her partner Roy Dayton in second place. Max
“Two Corsets” Bracegirdle finished third on 31 points and we welcomed to
the podium for the first time Fred Dineley whose 28 points was good
enough for him to finish in fourth spot.

The winner of the Compass Cap (awarded to the player
with the worst score on the day) was Mine Host of The Growling Swan,
Peter Grey who sure enough referred to the bumpy road coming in being
mainly responsible for his demise. Deefa the Dog’s master, Hunter took
the famous canine for a walk, collecting many donations to charity from
our generous Growling Swan crew in the process.
Back at The Growling Swan afterwards the Compass Cap
wearing Peter Grey was bemoaning the fact that his “bad back” should
have been taken into consideration when the award was handed out and was
considering lodging a protest but was promptly told “don’t waste your
time”! Such is the fun we have amongst our group and once more many of
us stayed longer than planned but it was well worth it.
Thursday, September
13, Burapha A & B – Stableford
After a month and a half in the States it was great
to have Ken & Wendy Bernek back with us again especially as it happened
to be Wendy’s birthday. We also congratulated her for her hole in one
which she had whilst golfing with her sons when she was away.
Burapha was the venue for the day’s competition and
most of the 16 starters assembled at The Growling Swan nice and early
but an early departure was thwarted when we waited for one newcomer that
did not show. With the help of cars we needed just the one mini-van and
departed right on schedule at 8.30 am and arrived at the lovely Burapha
just 30 minutes later.
We were told that A & B were once more our allotted
nines to play and after at first being told that we would have to wait
until our booked tee time of 10.00 am we were called to the tee 25
minutes earlier than that. The weather was glorious as was the golf
course and we certainly enjoy this venue as we take advantage at this
time of year of the special rate available.
We have chosen this course for our Monthly Mug next
month and after that it will probably be early next year when we resume
our regular monthly visits here. I cannot resist once again singing the
praises of this golf course as everything seemed to be perfect with the
pristine fairways and beautifully maintained greens which of course are
firm, true and very slick at times.
We completed our first nine (A) in well under two
hours but slowed down on B nine as a slow four-ball starting on B1 did
not appear to be in any hurry although the advantage of everyone having
carts certainly made for a speedy round and we were finished in the
excellent time of three hours & fifty minutes.
We were able to have 2 grades with four podium spots
in each: A Grade was for handicaps 0 to 20 and B Grade for 21 and over.
We had nearest the pins on all the par threes which were sponsored by
The Growling Swan, Dave Neal, Stephen Newton & John Pierrel. We also had
longest first putts on the A9 & B9 greens which were kindly sponsored by
J J Harney.
In a close finish to determine the winner of A Grade
it was Thientong Charoenrung (19 point back nine) who finished first in
a count back from Martin Todd (18 point back nine) in second spot with
both golfers having 38 points. J J Harney was third with 36 points and
in a count back for fourth on 35 points Mike Gosden (18 point back nine)
prevailed over John Pierrel (13 point back nine).
Yet another count back was required to decide the
winner of B Grade with Graham “Grunter” Buckingham (20 point back nine)
shading out Roy Dayton (15 point back nine), both having 35 points. In
third place came Roy’s partner Duangjai Tusagad (Kae) on 34 points with
Tom (TC) Cotton completing the podium in fourth spot with 33 points.
A Flight (0-20)
1st Thientong Charoenrung (19) 38pts
2nd Martin Todd (8) 38pts
3rd J J Harney (11) 36pts
4th Mike Gosden (12) 35pts

Near Pins: A3 – Mike Gosden; A6 – Thientong Charoenrung; B3 –
Thientong Charoenrung; B8 – Martin Todd
Long Putts: A9 – Dave Neal; B9 – Max Bracegirdle
The Compass Cap (awarded for the worst score on the
day) needed to be decided by a count back and it was Stephen Newton who
won it narrowly from Max “Two Corsets” Bracegirdle. Deefa the Dog was
back and paraded by his master, Hunter and several donations to charity
were collected from the ever generous Growling Swan Golf crew.
Back at The Growling Swan afterwards Wendy Bernek
kindly rang the bell to celebrate her birthday and once more several of
us stayed for quite some time enjoying the “Aussie” cold, low priced
beers and lots of fun & laughter.
Note: Growling Swan Golf welcomes golfers of
any persuasion – low & high handicappers alike, female golfers and
beginners. We generally play Mondays & Thursdays, meeting at The
Growling Swan (formerly The Bunker Bar) in Soi Chaiyapoon at 8.00 am
with transport departing at 8.30 am. For bookings or more information
please contact Peter on 0806 351 386 or email to [email protected].

Arnold makes winning return
PSC golf from Blue Moose Sports Bar

Dale Murphy, left, with Arnold
Van DeGraaf.
Monday, Sept. 10, Pattaya C.C. –
Stableford
Three groups teed off for Monday golf with the Blue Moose at
Pattaya Country Club. Included in the players was our ever-present ladies
group – 3 this week (Noy was MIA). Some of the usual golfers stayed behind
to watch Sunday night football at the Moose, accounting for the sparse
turnout.
Arnold Van DeGraaf was back in town and took first place with a score of 41
points. Dale Murphy meanwhile was back in form with a score of 40 points to
take second place while Bobby Clark continues his consistent golf with 35
points for third place.
Gay Wilanan with her corrected handicap of 40 took first place among the
ladies with 32 points.
Wedneday, Sept. 12, Phoenix - Stabeford
Phoenix Lakes & Ocean was the venue this past Wednesday week for
the Blue Moose golfers and the course was in good shape, even after very
heavy rains the night before.
We started out at 7:40 as the only golfers on the course and our first group
of 3 finished the round in 3 hours. This group included the winner, Matt
Miller, who scored 38 points including 3 holes with no score – otherwise
known as “blobs”. Richard Hall came in second with 36 points followed by
Larry Emerson with 34 points.
Everyone returned to the Moose where the Blue Moose Manager Gay tested out a
new fried chicken recipe which was very good.

Greig - master of the greens
PSC golf Bunker Boys @ The Ranch
Monday, Sept. 10, Bangpakong
–Stableford
Whilst Tony Robbins’s temperamental Volvo managed to successfully negotiate
the longer trip to Bangpakong, today it was Reg Smart’s turn to suffer car
problems as he experienced a puncture on the motorway, only to discover the
spare wheel had been stolen! Reg managed to limp along to the course, but
understandably the stress of being marooned 90km from Pattaya severely
affected his game as he was seen on the phone continuously for the first 4
holes trying to arrange delivery of a new wheel from Pattaya.
Bunker
Boys putting ace Colin Greig.
Everything was eventually sorted out and Reg completed his round to find the
new wheel already fitted and ready to go – a perfect example of how
sometimes problems in Thailand are easier (and cheaper) to sort out than
they would be back home!
The main drama on the course was another awesome putting display from Colin
Greig who managed to sink, not one - but two, 50 foot plus putts from off
the green. Not surprisingly, the points gained from those birdies were
enough to ensure that he took the top podium place, one point ahead of Tony
Robbins.
The main topic back at the Ranch was how we could sabotage Colin’s putter or
least introduce a local rule to outlaw “unfair” putts!
1st Colin Greig (9) 38pts
2nd Tony Robbins (14) 37pts
3rd Gerry Cooney (14) 35pts
Near Pins: Colin Greig, Tony Robbins, Gerry Cooney and John Graham.
Wednesday, Sept. 12, Phoenix Lake & Ocean – Medal
The Bunker Boys are pleased to announce that we now have a new sponsor, KPK
Foods Ltd., who will be donating two 500 Baht vouchers for food items from
their shop on soi Yumei (behind Big C, Pattaya Klang). The first voucher was
provided as an additional prize for our first medal competition of the month
and we set off to Phoenix in good spirits and under bright clear skies.
The course was surprisingly quiet and generally in good condition, but the
greens on the Ocean nine had been recently rolled and sanded, and were
described as being more like a skating rink by one of our grumpier members.
John Graham recovered from a recent slump in form to record the best score
of the day and take possession of the inaugural KPK Foods voucher. Geoff
Parker would have pushed him all the way but for a disastrous run over the
final three holes which saw him drop 6 shots after what up until then had
been a fine round.
Although only three near pins were hit, Colin Greig managed to secure two of
them, bringing his total to 40 for the year to date, way ahead of any other
member.
1st John Graham (10) net 69
2nd Dave Ashman (14) net 70
3rd Geoff Parker (13) net 71
Near Pins: Paul Smith and Colin Greig (2).
Friday, Sept. 14, Greenwood C & B – Stableford
It was a bright sunny day at Greenwood as we set off to tackle
the difficult C nine course, playing off the white tees. The course set up
has become more difficult recently with the first cut around the greens
being deliberately grown thicker to prevent any chance of running the ball
up to the mostly raised greens.
This also upsets our resident ace-putter Colin Greig, who loses one his key
weapons, since it’s virtually impossible to putt from off the green here.
Colin did however manage to produce a respectable round, coming in second
place behind the day’s winner Lee Butler.
The weather remained good, if a little humid throughout the round, but as we
were leaving the course a nasty looking storm was rolling in, so once again
the golfing gods had looked kindly on us.
Next week the Bunker Boys are heading off for 3 days golf in Hua Hin, so
weather gods permitting, it should be an interesting week’s golf.
1st Lee Butler (13) 34pts
2nd Colin Greig (9) 33pts
3rd Paul Smith (0) 32pts
Near Pins: Paul Smith, Geoff Parker and Lee Butler.
Note: The Bunker Boys are a PSC affiliated golf society who now play
out of The Ranch bar on Pattaya 3rd Road (in front of the fire station, and
almost opposite the Buffalo Bar). We play three times per week on Mondays,
Wednesdays, and Fridays, so if you enjoy a fun day out, and a friendly but
competitive golf competition why not come and join us. We meet at The Ranch
at 9 a.m. for breakfast and transportation, and new players are always

Suzy & Sugar joined at the hip
PSC golf from The Outback Golf Bar
Tuesday, Sept. 11, Pattaya C.C. -
Stableford
Eleven Outbackers here at Pattaya Country Club, many of whom are members,
including Chad our organiser, who right now is playing some of his best
golf. He had 38pts here on Monday and did it again today to win by two from
Jim Payne.
The regular girls are notably absent, except for Seesa (Mam) probably
because they find the back nine for them, which is the men’s white tee, very
difficult and their scores are usually low.
Welcome back to Bob Pearce after summering in a wet and cold UK and there
were no ‘2’s.
1st Barry Chadbourn (19) 38pts
2nd Jim Payne (27) 36pts
3rd Nigel Cannon (22) 34pts
Wednesday, Sept. 12, Plantation B & C – Stableford
An excellent turnout of 16 players to play the B (Tapioca) & C (Pineapple)
loops from the white tees. After the heavy overnight rain the course had
stood up pretty well but we decided to play ‘winter rules’; lift, clean &
place.
Welcome to Nick Odnoral, a PSC member playing with us for the first time and
well played to Paul Bourke, for his fine 38pts to take the win, ahead of
playing partner, Mark Riggall on 37.
There was one ‘2’ from Jim Bryan on B7 (Tapioca).
1st Paul Bourke (9) 38pts
2nd Mark Riggall (15) 37pts
3rd Jim Brackett (6) 35pts
Friday, Sept. 14, St. Andrews - Stableford
Thirty one Outbackers travelled today to St Andrews due to Green
Valley having a competition.
With a gentle breeze blowing, it was a pleasure to play one of the best
courses around for the same rate as we pay at Green Valley.
The fairways were in great condition today with plenty of grass to get your
club under the ball. The greens had been lightly sanded but this didn’t
deter the scores today as one can see below.
It seems we have a set of twins aboard with Sugar Ray and myself (Suzi)
playing off exactly the same handicap, scoring the same points and after
today’s competition we still have identical handicaps. Somebody please cut
off the apron strings...
Jim Brackett scored an excellent, two over gross 76 (remember par here is
74) for a total of 40pts, to just squeeze out Bob Newell, also playing off
6, with 39. Behind those two were four players all on 36, with Dennis Pelly
& Paul Greenaway filling the last two podium places on count back.
In Div B, 36pts didn’t even make the podium, as the aforementioned Suzi &
Sugar could only be split on count back, both scoring a fantastic 42pts.
Third went to Greg Hill with 41 and Eddie Beilby in fourth on 39.
Finally, welcome back to Tim Knight, Martin Kingswood, Allan Murdoch & Mark
Hurwood and also to Niklas Bloomquist, having his first game with the
Outback.
There were five ‘2’s from Martin Kingswood (3rd), Kevin Hamilton, Tim Knight
& John Stafford (10th) & Kev Waycott (17th).
Div A (0–14)
1st Jim Brackett (6) 40pts
2nd Bob Newell (6) 39pts
3rd Dennis Pelly (10) 36pts
Div B (15+)
1st Sugar Ray Handford (19) 42pts
2nd Suzi Lawton (19) 42pts
3rd Greg Hill (18) 41pts

Baldwin beats the field
Phoenix Members Golf Society

Tuesday’s winners with the
staff at The Relax Bar.
Mike Gerrard
Friday 7th Sept we decided to have an away day at Emerald Golf Club.
What a mistake that was! Although both the company and the competition were
good, the condition of this course is one of the worst I have ever played on
in this country. I know it is slightly cheaper than most courses but the
small saving is not enough to warrant to poor conditions. Anyway, enough of
that and on with the results:
Our winner was Mukesh Thakker with a hard earned 34 points. The ever
consistent Clive Robinson claimed second place with 31 points and your
correspondent (Mike Gerrard) managed to scramble 30 points to pip Kristinn
Helgason on count back for third place.
Mukesh went on to claim 2 near pins with again the scribe claiming one
other. With one of the par three’s not being hit by anyone this created a
lucky draw prize which Granville Swanton won.
So after our little Sunday outing at Phoenix we move onto our main day,
Tuesday, 11th September 2012. High season has come early this year by the
fact that we had our full capacity of players to fill six groups. I had
forgotten how much stress this causes me and my score on the first few holes
reflected this. Never mind, we had a lovely match play game within the
four-ball.
With so many players we divided the group into two flights and the winners
were as follows:
A Flight
1st Richard Baldwin 37pts
2nd Stuart Gordon 36pts
3rd Eamon Murtagh 34pts
B Flight
1st Jim Hallet 36pts
2nd Paul Taylor 36pts
3rd Colin Gregg 36pts
The overall winner for the KPK Food Services voucher was Richard Baldwin
while the KPK Food Services cap went to Paul Taylor.
Near pins were claimed by Eamon Murtagh, Gary Strickleton, Mukesh Thakker &
Richard Baldwin.
After awarding all the winning players with their respective prizes, the
rest of the field went into the lucky draw. Our hosts The Relax Bar donate
these every week along with preferential rates for the first drink on
arriving. The free massage went to Bill Hewitt, the free drink to myself and
the two fifty baht prizes went to Joris Goetschalkx and Bob Neylon.
Note: We play golf every Tuesday, Friday & Sunday at our beloved
Phoenix course and welcome guests, however we do limit the numbers to 6
groups (male only) and a maximum of no more than 28 handicap is allowed. We
also run scheduled sea fishing trips. For more information regarding both of
the above please call me (Mike) on 087 091 7565.

Claude nets his third 2012 Medal
PSC golf from Lewiinski’s Golf Society

Colin the golf manager, left,
presents to Mike Craighead and Claude Harder.
Sunday, Sept. 9, Green Valley - Monthly
Medal
A Flight
1st Mark Wood (9) net 72
2nd Pat Regan (13) net 72
B Flight
1st Claude Harder (12) net 70
2nd Lou Szigligeti (18) net 75
Red Flight
1st Mike Craighead net 71
Near Pins: No 4 Claude Harder; No 12 Pat Regan; No 16 Eddy Beilby
Claude Harder showed why he is the red hot favorite for the year-end gold
Medal as he showed the field nothing but tail lights in his B Flight winning
and best on the day net70. This was Claude’s third medal and Lewiinski’s
lead crystal whiskey glass plus a bottle of Jameson’s Irish whisky win this
year. Three society regulars were just a shot off the pace headed by ‘Broad
more’, Dave Shelton and JJ Harney.
Lou the ‘traffic warden’ Zig-Zag bested Aussie mate Jim Nobel and Eddy ‘the
Eagle’ in a three way count back to set the order in B Flight.
Scotland’s Mark Wood and Ireland’s young Pat Regan had the best score’s in
the flagship flight with even par rounds. The man from Aberdeen took the
count back and top spot.
In the Red Flight the race to Ban Chang seems to be all but over as Mike
‘the mechanic’ Craighead took the lead crystal flute and the Medal for the
fifth time this year with a net 71. Both Claude and Mike gain an invite to
play in the Gold Medal to be played later in the year.
Despite a quality field the par three ninth hole near pin was not claimed.
Beside his fine Medal win Claude also picked up a near pin and split the 2’s
pot with Captain Jimmy Day.
Tuesday, Sept. 11, Greenwood B+C - Stableford
A Flight
1st Paul Hack (13) 39pts
2nd Pat Reagan (13) 36pts
B Flight
1st Lou Szigligeti (18) 38pts
2nd Joe Tynan (30) 32pts
With determination akin to settlers heading out on the old Oregon Trail
during the western expansion of the United States, Lewiinski’s golf society
set out for Greenwood on the old ‘Ammunition Rd.’ a.k.a. Hwy 331. Although
the road is much improved it is always a challenge but the group eventually
arrived at Peter Thompson’s layout at the remotest edge of the Eastern
Seaboard family of courses.
Aussies Paul Hack and Lou ‘the traffic warden’ Zig-Zag topped the A & B
flights with 39 and 38 points respectively. Interestingly enough both second
place flight holders were Irishmen: young Pat Regan followed Paul in the
senior flight with a good even par round, as Joe ‘Sat-Nav’ Tynan followed
Lou up the steps in B Flight six shots adrift.
No 2’s were recorded rollover Wednesday.
Wednesday, September 12 -
St Andrews
A Flight
1st John Piernol (13) 39pts
2nd Iain Usher (11) 36pts
B Flight
1st Espen Kristoffersen (30) 39pts
2nd Mike Jeffreys (18) 34pts
It was John Piernol and Epsen Kristoffersen vying for man of the match:
John’s solid 39 point haul was three clear in A Flight of Iain Usher.
Espen’s just as solid 39 points was five clear of Mike ‘the Welsh Wizard’
Jeffreys as he was top dog in B Flight.
John Piernol split the rollover 2’s with Jimmy ‘No’ Bell.
Friday, Sept. 14, Mountain Shadow - Stableford
A Flight
1st Jim Bell (17) 37pts
2nd Jan Eriksen (8) 31pts
B Flight
1st Peter Henshaw (20) 36pts
2nd Joe Tynan (31) 34pts
A perennial society favourite Mountain Shadow was the site of Friday’s
outing. The group found all was in order at this great layout but Peter ‘Don
Corleone’ Henshaw was the only player to master the course that features the
toughest quartet of par fives, with his 37 points topping the B Flight.
Peter was followed across the line by good friend Joe ‘Sat-nav’ Tynan two
strokes adrift to make the flight an all Irish affair.
In the premier flight, traveling undertaker Jimmy ‘No’ Bell showed he could
play a sack of clubs as well, as his even par round held the day. Jim was
six shots clear of Jan ‘the quite one’ Eriksen.
The Donkey was as happy as Larry with the only 2 of the day.
Note: Lewiinski’s is situated on Pattaya Land Soi 1, Beach Road Soi
13/3 near to Walking Street. Anyone wishing to play with us just pop in and
add your name to the list or call Colin on 089 826 0764. Transport is
provided.

More monkey business
PSC golf from Tropical Bert’s

Tuesday’s top four: Max Scott,
Dick Warberg,
Steve Hamstad and Brian Parrish.
Derek Brook
Tuesday, Sept. 11, Bangpra – Stableford
Well the monkeys are back, and in massive numbers. It must be
because it is the ‘breeding season’ or to be more accurate just past it. The
place was crawling with many troops of them, but the most noticeable was the
number of ‘diddy’ ones. We are going to have fun in the years ahead and it
is time to hide everything deep in your bag as they will get into it.
Back to the golf, well it was a pretty difficult round, weather was fine,
not too much wind, fairways in reasonable condition, all in all a great day.
Yet somehow it was a grey day. You get those days, great course and
magnificent surroundings and the day looks grey. Fine playing partners, but
difficult to lift any of our four-ball, but Mashi did have a good back nine.
In fact the scores were horrible; at least we knew the other players could
not be as bad, could they?
Good showers here and a magnificent changing room, so up for a bite to eat,
but the food was not up to its normal high standard on the day, so back to
Bert’s. There it was time to tuck into the special and wait for the results.
Funny is it not that you can play a course one day and have great scores,
and the next play and the scores are terrible, weird innit? The winner today
was Max Scott with 35 points and in second was Dick Warberg with 32 points.
We then had a count back on 31 points that saw Steve Hamstad in third, Brian
Parrish in fourth and Barry Oates just missing out.
Near Pins went to Max Scott (2), Joel Flor and Mike Gaussa
Friday, Sept. 14, Eastern Star – Stableford
For a Friday this day turned out to have a very full field of players; maybe
because of the good rate, or maybe because we do not come here very often?
There are many reasons we do not visit here more frequently. It is one of
our Friday courses but is also fighting for bookings against courses that
are usually much cheaper and in all respects much easier. This course is
very difficult.
The course is also a great test of golf and at one time had the best
restaurant at any venue. Good reasons to attend one might suggest, but over
the years it has also had some of the dodgiest greens and now the restaurant
is not as good as it used to be. Dodgy greens because they were always slow
and had a mold on them that destroyed the look and the putting. Despite much
work the memory persists.
So to the tee, and off we went. This is a tough course and on this day we
played under ominous clouds, but we only had a sprinkling of rain. The
course is always in fairly good condition, as it was on this day, but as
usual the greens were fairly slow; certainly slower than those we played on
Tuesday, and as is normal the conditions started to get at the golfers and
most slowly fell behind. Still, all in all a fine day’s golf on a testing
course.
Showers here are fine and the restaurant is a good place to sit. The food is
OK, but I still remember the days they had a very high class Chef, and
myself and friends used to book to play there just to dine after golf. Those
days are finished but if you wish to test your golf, try this course.
Back at Bert’s it was soon time to call the results, and Eastern Star won 21
with one draw and we did not win any. In the A Flight, 0 to 16, we had the
one draw when Mike Gaussa won with 36 points, well done. In second was Tony
Oakes, The PSC President honouring us with a visit, with 35 points and in
third was Takeshi Hakozaki with 34 points.
In the B Flight the winner was Don Carmody with 29 points ahead of a count
back on 27 points that saw Doug Maiko in second, Barry Oats in third and
Joel Flor just missing out. A tough day indeed.
Near Pins went to Takeshi Hakozaki, Daryl Evans and Brian Parish (2).

Pierrel powers on for victory
PSC golf from The Golf Club

Hans Lemstra, Pim, John
Pierrel
and Mark Wood celebrate back at the club.
Steve Ellison
For the record, here is our handicap policy, effective immediately. Golfers
must have an official R&A or U.S.G.A. verified current handicap to win
prizes. In the case of multiple handicaps, you must play off the lowest,
whether that handicap is a local P.S.C. or I.P.G.C. handicap, or it has been
issued overseas.
Tuesday, Sept. 11, Laem Chabang (White tees) – Stableford
1st John Pierrel (13) 37pts
T2nd Hans Lemstra (12) 36pts
T2nd Mark Wood (9) 36pts
T2nd Jim Dundon (14) 36pts
Laem Chabang was the venue for today’s outing and everybody raved about it.
This course is now back in the condition it used to be, absolutely perfect.
If you have not been here for awhile, you should give it a go as they also
have a great pro shop with the new SportsMall addition to the clubhouse. The
new driving range was also a necessary improvement, with a fine putting
green and chipping area with good bunkers. Get here early and make use of
the facilities to get off to a good start.
John Pierrel has been seen taking to the range on his non-golf days and it
has obviously paid off. John shot one better than his handicap to win the
day with 37 points, a good strong score on this Jack track. Hans Lemstra,
Mark Wood and Jim Dundon were all clipping at his heels for a 3-way tie for
second just one point back with 36.
Hey guys, please fill in your scorecards properly. You cannot win if we
cannot read your scorecard. Print your full name in block letters and your
score circled at the top. Winning golfers must claim their prizes at The
Golf Club, but it is not necessary to be here at the presentation. Also, you
will notice there is no count back. Our new policy is to divide the prizes
equally for the same score, hence 3 golfers tied for second place. We think
this will prove to be a more fair system for everybody
Friday, Sept. 14, Phoenix (White tees) – Stableford
1st Jeff Cordeiro (9) 37pts
T2nd Mark Wood (9) 35pts
T2nd George Bishop (19) 35pts
Time once again for an easy trip out to Phoenix and some gentle golf on a
forgiving course. Or so it seemed, but in fact only one golfer shot better
than his handicap on the day. Jeff Cordeiro was that one golfer, and for his
efforts he took the victory. The course was in great shape and we even had
some perfect weather for a fine day of golf in the Kingdom.
Cap’t. Phil chose the first par 3, the second hole, for the near pin and it
was won handily by Mr. Grant Cadell.
The man we call ‘Gentleman George’ had a heck of a good day once more, and
turned in 35 points to slot into a second place tie with Mark Wood. Khun Pim
also had a great round and shot her best score of 32 points on the day.
Thanks to one and all for joining us… and keep it in the fairway!
Note: The Golf Club is located on Soi LK Metro. We play on Monday,
Wednesday and Friday so come join us for a seriously fun day out. Just call

Lucky thirteenth for McIntosh
The Pattaya Golf Society (IPGC)
at Rabbi’s Elephant Bar
A bright and breezy day dawned on Monday, 10th September
as the Pattaya Golf Society visited Bangpra to play a stableford competition
on a course in excellent condition with greens full of “roll” and running at
a quick pace. Starting earlier than usual the group found an empty course in
front of them and excellent progress was made.
Finishing in third place was Dave Edwards with 29 points, playing perhaps
his most inconsistent round since arriving on the scene in Pattaya a few
months ago. In second was Mr Len with 30 points, the promise of his front
nine dissipating in water on four holes on the in run. The winner, in his
thirteenth official IPGC competition, was Neil McIntosh and there was
certainly no element of luck about it as his new driver matched his
ambitions and set up his winning score of 31 points.
There were no birdie ‘2’s and the Booby Bevy went to Joe Niisato after he
announced in the locker room he had left his “change” sports bag back in
Rabbi’s Elephant Bar in Soi Buakhao. He wasn’t the first, and won’t be the
last, no doubt. Old friend Mike Ensor won the Rabbi’s free beer draw on his
return and it all added a little bit more fun to an excellent day at
Bangpra.
Grimes in charge
Eastern Star was the venue for the Pattaya Golf Society on Wednesday, 12th
September as the Soi Buakhao based group gathered to play a stableford event
on the course which was still quite soft after a few days rain. Thus the
course was to play long with little run on the fairways.
Finishing in third place on 31 points was Dave Edwards, again, his round
suffering a surprising “blip” in the middle when he lost five shots in seven
holes. Ahead in second was Mr Len and his 32 points again reflected his
putting form which helped him eke out points on holes where other shots had
failed him. The winner was Ken Grimes who merited all the plaudits after a
blemish-free round gave him 36 quality points.
On a day when there were no birdie ‘2’s the Booby Bevy went to Tim Knight
for the largest split over the two nines and Rabbi’s free beer draw was won
by Joe Niisato.

Seppo has a ‘Hole-in-One’
IPGC golf from The Haven
Monday, Sept. 10, Bangpra
- Stableford
CSS 75 NC
1st Lyle Blaw (12) 30pts
2nd Shuichi Kodaka (16) 29pts
3rd Mike Hill (24) 29pts
4th John
Wood (24) 27pts
Another extremely difficult week of golf started out at
the notoriously difficult Bangpra where, even with two groups from the IPGC
playing the course, none of the competitors from either competition played
within two of their handicaps thus ensuring that the day became non-counting
for upward review of handicaps.

Alwyne Burley.
The course was generally in tip top condition, but the
length of the holes on a course, now measuring a full 6,500 yards from the
white tees, allied to the lightning fast greens made for a very arduous day
and far too much for most to handle.
Lyle Blaw slipped, or more correctly slid, into first
place with a round that he would have rather forgotten but which proved to
be the best of the day by the narrowest of margins to take his first win of
this visit after arriving with less than high hopes from his home club on
the back of several poor results that had seen his handicap rise to a three
year high.
Shuichi Kodaka took second place after winning a count
back over Mike Hill with a better 14 to 11 after Mike had started out
strongly but slipped badly on the inward half by scoring nothing on four
holes when in a winning position.
John Wood rounded out a shortened podium another two shot
further back after he had started his last week in Pattaya with high
ambitions to exceed his cousin’s results before departing.
There were no 2’s on the day and precious few 3’s, there
being only three in total from the whole field.
Wednesday, Sept. 12,
Greenwood B & C - Stableford
CSS75 NC
1st Lyle Blaw (12) 31pts
2nd Terry Hodgkiss (23) 29pts
3rd Alwyne Burley (18) 28pts
4th Shuichi Kodaka (16) 27pts

Lyle Blaw.
For the second time in the week the courses selected to
be played turned out to be just a little too difficult for most of the
field, with the competition becoming non-counting again. With a measured
distance of a yard short of 6,600 yards it was perhaps a couple of hundred
longer than was comfortable for the majority of the players on the day and
with a torrential downpour in the middle to add to their woes it made good
scoring an almost impossible proposition.
Starting on the C course, Lyle Blaw once again proved to
be the best of the bunch, by an added stroke this time, winning by two from
Terry Hodgkiss who, after suffering recently, managed to stay the course and
take second place as he held it together long enough to edge out Alwyne
Burley into third by a single point after the latter had started very slowly
with just 10 points from the first nine holes.

A prize golf bag presented by
The Haven to Seppo for his Hole-in-One.
Shuichi Kodaka again got into the frame in fourth with a
sold round after the first three holes where he failed to score.
Once again with the course playing about as hard as could
be remembered there were no 2’s in either division.
Prior to the presentations there were welcome backs for
Phillip Cass and Alwyne Burley both returning from Australia with different
stories; Phillip on an ominously empty plane and Alwyne with empty pockets
after several expensive adventures and now looking to get back and do a bit
of reaping in the Land of Smiles, both on the course and behind the bar.
Friday, Sept. 14, Phoenix
Lakes & Ocean - Stableford
CSS 71
1st Alwyne Burley (18) 39pts
2nd Phillip Cass (22) 36pts
3rd Mike Hill (24) 36pts
4th Don Everett (21) 35pts
5th Seppo Sadeharju (23) 35pts
6th
Paul Taylor (19) 34pts
At last there was a semblance of golf being played by the
Soi 13 group as several players made the mark and the CSS went down to 71.
Alwyne Burley, who had promised to see a couple of other
players round on the day, did even better winning the day by a clear three
points - starting at one under and coming back in two under handicap which
included a run of four three-pointers in the middle and could afford an
anchor seven on the last and still stay well ahead of the chasing group.
Phillip Cass and Mike Hill had to be separated with a
count back, which Phillip won with a better 17 to 16 after Mike had started
well and even had a run of fourteen points from five holes in the middle of
the back nine, but just two points from the other four holes was enough to
consign him into third place for the second time in the week. Phillip also
started well with two four-pointers on the front nine and then just did
sufficient on the inward half to claim second place.
Don Everett won a count back over Seppo Sadeharju for
fourth spot by a margin of 18 to 17 but as Seppo had other matters to
celebrate he was not so disappointed to end up in fifth place.
There were no 2’s in the first division but Phillip Cass
and Mike Hill had one each in the second division but instead of sharing the
large rollover pool they both received nothing as the two pools were taken,
following tradition, by Seppo Sadeharju who had a hole in one on the second
hole on the Lakes course.
His feat sparked a huge celebration on the course which
continued back at The Haven, fueled by Seppo’s largesse in underwriting not
one but three bottles of champagne on the groups return to The Haven where
the Doc demonstrated his old new year’s eve “champagne de sabre trick”,
cutting off the top of the bottle including the cork, to delight the crowd
and get the drink fest off to a good start for the evening. It was Seppo’s
first ever hole in one and followed a 2 earlier in the year which was also
his first in Thailand.
Back at The Haven there was a welcome for new member
Michael Clack and welcome backs for Mark Parsons and Eric Goodman.
There was also a farewell for John Wood, returning to
England after a rather up and down visit but now looking forward with
confidence to his next visit at the end of the year.
Note: If you would like to play with The Haven
group, you can contact mobile 082 219 0965 or call in to The Haven Hotel, at
185 Soi 13, between Beach Road and 2nd Road. All
transportation to the course is arranged and you do not need to sign up
prior to the day, but you should be there by 8.30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday,
and Friday on the days you wish to play. A schedule of courses to be played
can be found on our web site at www.thehaven-hotel.com.

Willem doubles up
PSC Golf from Mulligans Lakeside
In a week of contrasting courses, Tuesday, Sept. 11 was a
visit to Pattana, with the C & A combination at just over 6700 yds from the
white tees being our allotted test. Pattana is one of the higher echelon of
courses available at a reasonable price, with a spectacular clubhouse &
amenities, and a course presented in good order.
Willem
Lasonder.
Willem Lasonder (22) got his week off to a good start with a solid 36
points, followed in by Jeff Wylie (5) with 34 points. Near pin prizes were
shared between Jeff & Clive.
Thursday we were at the lower end of the scale (clubhouse & amenities wise)
with a trip down the access road, which is in shocking condition, to Century
Chonburi. Despite the lack of facilities, the course is eminently playable
and represents top notch value combined with a more than adequate course.
Again it was Willem (22) leading the way, this time with a superb 40 points,
which could easily have been more according to reports from group members.
It was made all the sweeter for Willem as he once again got the better of
Jeff (5) who managed his way around for 36 hard won points.
Willem & Jeff (with 2) also showed the way in the near pins, converting all

Count-backs galore at Green Valley
Jomtien Golf with the IPGC
Monday, Sept. 10, Green Valley – Stableford
As always here a predictable early start with the regular
group in front booking eight tee times months ahead but only four actually
going out, so we were off 35 minutes ahead of schedule. We had seven
four-balls out today with the cut at 5-15 and 16+ in division 2.

Bryan Rought with Dave
Richards.
Now playing off 12, Neville Scurrell won division 1 with
38 points, edging Iain Usher by one point and Wilf Latham beat the Sheffield
boy Andy Mills, in his last game with us before his return to the UK, on an
18/15 back nine count back after they both returned scores of 35. Bon Voyage
Andy!
There were three cards in with 36 points in division 2
and with a back nine count back of 19/17/14, William Chang was on the top
podium position, ‘Mr. Happy’ alias Bryan Rought was second and Harry
Vincenzi third.
In the nearest the pins the first group out forget to put
the flags out on the fist par three on the fourth over the water , no names
mentioned. Lindsay Phillips in the first group had his name but there were a
few alterations later back at Siam cars at the presentation. Mikael
Andersson, Wilf Latham and Dave Richards claimed the pins in division 1,
with Tony Duthie and Rodney Howett taking them in division 2.
Paul Butler birdied the 12th for the only 2 in division 1
and there were two rollovers in division 2 to Wanjuntr on Wednesday.
Wednesday, Sept. 12,
Wanjuntr - Stableford
Our first visit here to the lowlands course and the one
hour and twenty minute journey from Jomtien put a lot of people off, but we
had six groups out in the end.
After nine holes the clouds were building all around and
on the twelfth for the first group it was very dark and there was lightning
and thunder in the distance. Amazingly this lasted for the next five holes
before the torrential rain started after the tee-off on the par-three 17th.
We waited around 40 minutes for the rain to ease and approached the green
which was almost impossible to putt on. We teed off on the 18th and it was
still raining so with our local 1 hour of rain rule most of us decided to
call it a day, with just a few groups carrying on to the end.
Friday, Sept. 14, Eastern
Star - Stableford
There was one late cancellation so we dropped from three
divisions to two with 31 players out today. There were some stormy clouds in
the distance as we approached Baan Chang and we were hoping we could get all
18 holes in today, not like Wednesday.
The cut in the two divisions was made at 6-17 and 18 plus
and the best score of the day was 35 points in both. Marty Rock won division
1 with Wichai in second place one point behind and Kari Kuparinen took third
after beating Mikael Andersson and Karl Flood on a back six count back of
12/11/10, all on 33 points.
Just back from China, Bob Poole topped division 2, Kan
Carr was second with 32 and Iain Walsh beat Jerry Sweetnam on a 15/13 back
nine count back for third as they both came in with 30 points.
Near pins went to Mikael Andersson, Alan Hanssen, Kari
Kuparinen (2), Mark Armstrong and Bob Poole.
There were three ‘2’s today on the 6th, 13th and 17th in
division 1 for Frank Kelly, Kari Kuparinen and Jon Lay, while in division 2
a rollover ensued to Eastern Star next Wednesday.
It was Bon Voyage today to Andy Baber and Tony Holehouse and our thoughts
here at Jomtien Golf are with Fred Duffy back in Scotland and we all wish
him a speedy recovery.

Helgason on top at Treasure Hill
Monday, Sept. 10, Khao Kheow A&B –
Stableford
1st Doug Maiko (17) 35pts
2nd Daryl Evans (20) 33pts
3rd Dave Richardson (26) 32pts
4th Andre Vandyk (21) 31pts
The Khao Kheow A&B loops were the challenge today and after 43 minutes
en-route we were off the A1 tee 30 minutes early under sunny skies and with
another delightful breeze.
The course on the day was in a good playable condition but there was a lot
of ground under repair on both nines which seems to be the norm rather than
the exception. It really was millionaire’s golf again today with no one in
front for the 18 holes for a round of 3 hours and 55 minutes.
Welcomes went out to Doug Maiko and Andre Vandyk and goodbyes to Ron Grafton
and John Coombs - back to Perth W.A..
Doug Maiko was the winner with 35 points, Daryl Evans came second on 33,
Dave Richardson took third with 32 points and Andre Vandyk filled fourth on
count back from John Coombs, Dave Neal and Graham Buckingham, all with 31
points.
Thursday, Sept. 13, Treasure Hill – Stableford
1st Kristin Helgason (17) 35pts
2nd Stu Rifkin (15) 31pts
3rd Brian Noguer (22) 31pts
Treasure Hill was the game today and we were off the first tee 25 minutes
early with partly cloudy and humid conditions, which prevailed for the whole
round. The course on the day was in fine condition with some re-turfing
going on around several greens.
With a seemingly empty course it was once more a quick round of just 3 hours
and 35 minutes.
Kristin Helgason was the winner with 35 points while Stu Rifkin took second
on a count back from Brian Noguer, both on 31 points.

Thailand scores 4 gold medals at 2012 London Paralympics
Thailand’s victorious gold medal winning 4-man
boccia team.
Boonlua Chatree
Thai athletes won eight medals, including four gold, at the recently
concluded Paralympic Games in London, surpassing the expectations of even
the participating athletes themselves.
Thais won single gold medals in table tennis and fencing, and two in boccia.
The medal haul placed Thailand first among Association of Southeast Asian
Nations countries and fifth overall in Asia.
The kingdom sent 50 disabled athletes to participate in 10 sports in the
world games. Team leaders said they hoped to come away with two gold medals.
They ended up with much more.
Rungroj Thainiyom, who has muscular dystrophy, won the first gold on Sept. 2
in the men’s individual table tennis event. A four-member team led by
Pattaya Tadtong scored the second gold with an impressive performance in
mixed boccia. The team, which also included Visanu Huadpradit, Mongkol
Jitsangiem and Watcharapol Wongsa, beat England 18-1.
Wheelchair-bound fencer Saysunee Jana took the third gold in women’s epee.
Then, on the final day, Sept. 8, Tadtong scored gold again by trouncing
David Smith of hosts United Kingdom 7-0 in men’s individual boccia.
Thailand’s two silver medals came from Prawat Wahoram in the 1,500-meter
men’s wheelchair racing event and a four member team in the 400-meter
wheelchair relay with a season-best time of 3:13.28. Prawat had been trying
for his fourth consecutive gold medal.
Both the Thai team’s bronze medals were won by wheelchair-racer Konjen
Saichon in the men’s 100-meter and 800-meter races.
The athletes surely won the hearts and pride of the nation, but also secured
some hefty bonus money as well. Former Prime Minister Banhan Silpa-acha
pledged 500,000 baht for any gold medalist, 300,000 baht for any silver
medals and 200,000 baht for bronze.
Channel 3 television has also pledged to pay winning athletes one million
baht per gold medal, 500,000 baht for silver and 300,000 baht for bronze.

Phuket King’s Cup Regatta 2012 race year builds on sporting pedigree

The Phuket King’s Cup Regatta
will once again put on a spectacular display of the finest sailing talent
from around the world from Dec. 1-8, 2012. (Photo by Guy Nowell)
Recognised throughout the eastern hemisphere as the
premier sailing event of its kind, the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta will once
more put on a spectacular display of the finest sailing talent from around
the world, competing in Andaman Sea off Phuket Island, to win the
‘must-have’ racing trophy in all of Asia, from 1–8 December, 2012.
This year’s competition will feature the largest and most competitive fleet
of any regional regatta, with top competitors from the region and beyond,
plus large international charter and cruising fleets. Over 35 countries with
1,000 sailors will be represented in total, with a strong showing expected
of Thai and Asian sailors. Dominance in the dinghy classes by Thai youth
sailors is likely to continue with these classes racing 2-5 December
inclusive.
The 2012 Classes will likely include a number of IRC Classes – IRC Zero, IRC
One, IRC Two, IRC Three – Premier, Sports Boats, Modern Classic, Bareboat
Charter, Multihulls (with possible Racing and Cruising splits), Firefly 850
Sports, Classic and a Cruising Class. Full details can be viewed in the
Notice of Race at http://kingscup.com.
Kevin Whitcraft, President of the Phuket King’s Cup Regatta Organising
Committee, spoke of the widespread anticipation for 2012’s Regatta: “Last
year was a genuine landmark for the Phuket King’s Cup; a quarter centenary
of world class racing in Phuket for a race which is seen by many as the top
prize in sports sailing for the region.
“We were delighted to welcome the introduction of a Kiteboarding class,
success for the Royal Thai Navy, the first Japanese winners in the history
of the Cup, plus increasing levels of participation from Chinese sailors.
For 2012, the fleet is expected to be of a similar size, though the racing
will be of an even higher class; many of our international teams have chosen
to prioritise the Phuket King’s Cup. It’s a sign of just how coveted and
revered this trophy is in Asia and beyond; a superb draw for the best of the
best, and it reflects extremely well on Thailand as a premier sailing
destination.”
The modern Phuket King’s Cup Regatta has become a major boating event,
attracting keelboats and ocean-going catamaran teams from around the world.
As a principal fixture on the Asian Yachting Circuit, the Regatta annually
features upwards of 100 boats and 1,000 participants, ranging from the
high-tech yachts in IRC Zero to live-aboard ocean cruisers, multihulls and
classics. International-standard race management is combined with lively
beach parties during Regatta Week to create this world-renowned yacht racing
exhibition.

‘Dolphins’ flounder in Saraburi despite Ludovick double
Thai Premier League Football 2012 Season

FC at the Saraburi Stadium, Saturday, Sept. 15. (Photo/Pattaya United)
After putting together a recent string of impressive
results, Pattaya United were brought crashing back down to earth last
weekend with a chastening 4-2 loss at the hands of Osotspa M-150 FC in
Saraburi.
The hosts took the lead in just the 6th minute of the match through a left
foot strike from the edge of the area by Japan’s Hiromichi Katano, although
this was cancelled out just 12 minutes later by the Dolphins’ prolific
marksman Ludovick Takam, who found space inside the Osotspa area and turned
sharply to shoot low into the corner of the net.
The scores remained level until the hour mark when Namibian striker Lazarus
Kaimbi latched onto a ball over the top of the Pattaya defence to turn his
marker inside out before placing the ball into the far corner of the goal
past Narit. The same player would then effectively make the game safe when
he pounced on a mistake by the Pattaya defence to fire home his second goal
in the space of 2 minutes.
With the Dolphin’s still reeling from Kaimbi’s double strike, his compatriot
Tangeni Shipahu then ghosted into the area almost immediately from the
restart to add a fourth as he headed the ball over Narit.
The 10 minute spell of madness wasn’t over yet however, as Pattaya went
straight up the other end of the pitch and pulled a goal back on 69 minutes
through Ludovick’s second strike of the match. The striker then turned
creator as his clever back-heel put O.J. Obatola through on goal but the
Dolphin’s frontman could only fire the ball straight at the keeper from 5
yards out.
Pattaya were unable to create any further clear openings as the clock ticked
down and the game ended 4-2 in favour of the hosts.
United’s next Premier League fixture is this coming Saturday, Sept. 22
against struggling BBCU at the Nongprue Stadium in Pattaya with kick-off
scheduled for 6 p.m.
At the top of the table, unbeaten Muang Thong United continued their
relentless pursuit of the title with a 2-1 away win at Army while nearest
rivals Chonburi’s game against Wuachon was postponed.
