Police look on as one of
the rogue police volunteers (#3) continues to harass the innocent teens.
Boonlua Chatree
Two Pattaya Police Volunteers assaulted two teenagers
they wrongly believed to be suspects in a necklace snatching.
The two heavily-bruised 17-year-olds were found face
down and handcuffed by commissioned police officers near Thepprasit Soi
11 Aug. 12. The unidentified volunteers said they apprehended the teens
because they were riding a motorbike with a license plate similar, but
not identical, to one used in a necklace snatching on Soi Buakaow that
day.
The real police officers took the teens to Pattaya
Police Station where the victim was giving a statement. She said the two
boys were not the ones who stole her necklace.
Despite the obvious abuse, the police volunteers
offered only an apology to the incensed teens. The boys protested to
police station officials that they were physically and verbally abused
for no reason and that, they believed, they were better people and
citizens than the supposedly ethical volunteers.
Regular police officials didn’t deny their
assertions.
