Chonburi officials will propose deepening the
Mabprachan Reservoir to help combat water scarcity problems when a
Transportation Ministry budget panel meets in Pattaya later this month.

Chonburi Deputy Gov.
Phakhornthorn Thienchai presides over a budget-planning session at
Pattaya City Hall.
Deputy Gov. Phakhornthorn Thienchai presided over a
May 31 budget-planning session at Pattaya City Hall, seeking opinions
from Banglamung District Chief Chaowalit Saeng-Uthai and Pattaya
Permanent Secretary Pakorn Sukhonthachart on water-distribution problems
and how expanding the reservoir might help.
The proposal will be among a long list of items for
which the province is requesting funds for from the 2013 budget.
Ministry officials will meet June 18-19 to consider the proposals.
Phakhornthorn said city officials on that date will
make a presentation on water problems and outline plans to deepen the
lake in order to hold more hard water.
“Water scarcity has been a major problem that has
created a lot of difficulties for residents and hurts Pattaya’s
tourist-promotion plans,” he said.
Other proposals the city hopes to get funded are
patrols by civil defense volunteers and traffic management.
