He added the event will also give inspiration to Thai designers and promote Thai fashion and leather entrepreneurs as the leaders in these industries in ASEAN.

Over 500 companies will exhibit their outstanding products in over 700 exhibition booths. Clothes, textiles, leather products, and shoes with distinguished designs will be the showcase of the Fair. Wuttichai expected around 40,000 Thai and foreign visitors at the event.

TAT to hold Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is set to host the ‘Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012’ with over 40 booths selling products from across the country in order to stimulate the country’s tourism and economy.

The Miracle of Thai Food and Fruit Festival 2012 will feature Thai food from four regions, popular Thai food among locals and foreigners, as well as seasonal fruit.
CNNGo has previously ranked Thai food among the 50 most delicious dishes in the world, with massaman curry topping the list at number 1, followed by tom yum goong at number 8, nam tok moo at 19 and som tam at number 46. Thus, the TAT will help Thai entrepreneurs in boosting the economy by promoting food which is well-known among foreigners.

The TAT expects that the organization of this event will also stimulate the country’s tourism as well as the economy. The overall spending by the event’s visitors last year stood at 30 billion baht. Meanwhile, a 10% growth has been estimated for this year.

TAT to hold travel fair to promote three southernmost provinces

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT)’s Southern Branch will organize a campaign in Bangkok to promote tourism in the three southernmost provinces.

The tourism promotion fair to draw visitors to Yala, Pattani, and Narathiwat provinces will be held at Rajamangala stadium in Hua Mak, Bangkok, from June 1-3. The TAT is cooperating with the Foundation of Islamic Center of Thailand and its alliances to promote historical tourism in which Islamic ancient buildings in the far South will be developed as tourist attractions.

They hope that more people from Bangkok and nearby provinces will visit the southernmost provinces. The fair will offer two-in-one tour packages which will take tourists to both Thai provinces and Malaysian states. The package will have Betong in Yala as the selling point, to convince visitors that Betong is safe and complete with sufficient facilities for them.

During the travel fair, southern food and products will be on sale, while southern performances such as the famous dikir hulu will be on show, among others.
In 2003, before the southern unrest, tourists in the three Thai southern border provinces numbered 1.4 million, bringing in over 4 billion baht in tourism revenue. But since violence plagues the region, tourist numbers have dropped significantly; only rising in 2010, when the three provinces saw 1.3 million tourists.

Tourism revenue was expected to increase by 5-10% in 2011. Currently less than 20% of tourists to the far South are Thai, while 80% are Malaysians. (NNT)

Thailand Pavilion attracting many visitors at Expo 2012

The Thailand Pavilion has attracted the attention of locals and tourists who are visiting the International Exposition Yeosu Korea 2012, while aiming to become one of the exposition’s top five pavilions.

Held in Yeosu, South Korea, this year’s World Expo is centered around the theme of “The Living Ocean and Coast”. The world-class exposition is participated by 106 nations and 10 international organizations, which have gathered to exhibit advanced technologies and ideas on marine and coastal resources management. So far, the Expo 2012, Yeosu has welcomed a large number of both local and foreign visitors. The host country is expecting that the three-month global event will draw in 8 million visitors.

The Thai Pavilion at the Expo 2012, Yeosu portrays the stories of the Thai seas with graceful designs of foamy waves and the Thai culture. Three leading characters from Thailand’s epic literature, Phra Aphaimani, including Sutsakorn, the Dragon-horse and the Mermaid, serve as the pavilion’s hosts to take visitors on journeys through spectacular seascapes which showcase the richness and beauty of Thailand’s seas.
Ranked by the South Korean press as one of the must-visit pavilions, the Thailand Pavilion at the expo has been attracting many visitors. With such positive reception, the Thai Pavilion aims to become one of the top five most visited pavilions. Other pavilions which are stirring the interest of the expo’s visitors are those from South Korea, China, Italy, USA and Germany.

The expo is held on 25 hectares of land in South Korea’s ocean resort and tourist city of Yeosu and is open to the public from May 12 - August 12. The official mascots of the exposition are “Yeony”, a small blue plankton, representing the abundant sea, and Suny, an orange plankton, symbolizing the living creatures in the marine and coastal ecosystems.

The next World Expo is scheduled to be held in Milan, Italy, in 2015. Meanwhile, Thailand is currently bidding to become host of the world-class exposition in 2020. (NNT)

Marina Usher Mazur poses in her 3-bedroom second home in Notting Hill, London. A limited hotel supply and unprecedented demand from almost a million tourists, media and businesspeople tied to the London Games means that accommodation in the British capital - never a bargain to start with - is more expensive than ever this summer. Usher Mazur is renting the house to two American families for 6,000 British pounds a week. That’s more than double her normal rate, but she still received more than 30 responses.
