Picnic in the Park II

The money raised will help the children of Pattaya.

Derek Franklin

Following the success of the first Picnic in the Park, which took place in September last year, the Regents School will be hosting a second musical afternoon, taking place at the Father Ray Children’s Village on Sunday May 13th from 3-7pm.

Music will be provided by the various musical groups from the Regents School; Regents Soul Band, Primary Rock Band, Regents Girl’s Band and there will also be performances of Irish and Korean dancing.

It is hoped that there will be performances from musical students of Garden International and St. Andrews International School as well.

There will be food stalls, an Australian BBQ, raffles, a bouncy castle and lots of fun for the whole family. You can bring your own food and drink if you wish, and you should also bring a blanket for the ground, a parasol and your dancing shoes.

Admission for this event will be adults 100 baht and 50 baht for children, and all proceeds will be donated to the Regents School Community Partners.

The Father Ray Children’s Village is located just off Siam Country Road; go through the red arch near the 7-11 and then turn right.

Lots of prizes to be won at the Picnic in the Park.

We’re so proud of Praw

Praw poses with her teacher Kru Pearl, who also won an award.

Teenage singing star Praw has won a top award for her vocal skills.

Praw, who studies at Garden International School (GIS) near Pattaya, came joint-first in exams run by the world-famous Trinity College London.

Praw, 13, was given her honour at the Trinity Awards on 6 April at the AUA Auditorium, Bangkok. She is in Year 8 at GIS, which is based in Ban Chang in Rayong.

Trinity devised the concept of Grade and Diploma examinations in Music in the 1870s and was the first examination board in the world to conduct examinations and awards qualifications internationally.

In 2012 they added a new syllabus, called Rock and Pop syllabus. In the Pop Rock category the award winner for Vocals Grade 2 was Tawanya Brander (Praw), who scored 85 points. Four students gained this grade, so all were given first place.

Her teacher is Rapeeporn Pratumanon (Kru Pearl). Congratulations to Praw for a fantastic achievement.
