Miss Thailand Universe Chanyasorn Sakornchan was among the many Plutaluang
residents who reached into their pockets to aid flood victims in Ayutthaya.
Saying she was representing the people of Sattahip, the beauty queen donated
a supply of betel, a leaf used both as a stimulant and for medicinal
purposes, intended for the elderly people of Sanao District in Phra Nakhon
Sri Ayutthaya.
The donation was just one of many made at the Plutaluang Market on Sukhumvit
Road. Gov. Chaichan Iamcharoen and area police set up the donations tent to
solicit cash, dried food, drinking water, blankets, antibiotics, medicine
and other items for residents hit by the worst floods in a decade.
Chaichan said more than 100,000 baht had been collected by Oct. 2.
