Pattaya officials have approved a 1 million baht
budget to provide repairs and relief for local victims of last month’s
severe overnight storm.

Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn chairs a meeting to provide more relief
for victims of last month’s storm.
Fifty South Pattaya and Koh Larn families suffered
damage to homes, fishing boats and other property from high winds and
driving rain. In the days following the tempest, city leaders promised
relief of up to 10,000 baht per family.
Deputy Mayor Wutisak Rermkitkarn said the Thamsamakee
Temple area and part of Koh Larn were declared disaster areas, enabling
the city to obtain more funds for reconstruction. The Social Welfare
Department examined the affected areas and found 50 families in need of
assistance. Their cases have been submitted to city engineers for damage
assessment.
Registered households will be able to collect up to 20,000 baht each,
with city officials arranging engineers and construction workers.
Non-registered fishermen can collect up to 1,000 baht for each damaged
boat.
