The music of Elvis, the Beatles and Broadway came to life
for a night in Jomtien Beach as hundreds turned out to help raise money for
charity with a “Thank You for the Music” tribute concert.
CSP
managing director Tom Coghlan talks about how successful the event is, and
“we should do this again soon.”
Organized by construction company CSP Project and
Yorkie’s Restaurant, the Jan. 31 concert at the Jomtien Garden Resort
featured Thai artists from Bangkok, Chonburi, and as far away as Chiang Mai,
performing oldies but goodies to raise funds for poor children in Yasothon.
Bangkok cover band The Beaters did Beatles tunes, Elvis
Arthur covered his idol while duo Mr. Paul & Ms. Som sang tunes from Les
Miserables. Other artists included Powerhouse and the Three Amigos.
Organizer Tom Coghlan, managing director for villa
builder CSP, invited guests to enjoy a Thai and international buffet before
the music started. Once it did, they took to the floor to dance.
With everyone paying 1,000 baht to get in, Coghlan called
the fundraiser a big, enjoyable success, and one that should be repeated in
the future.
“I love old pop songs and realized that Pattaya has lots
of foreigners who love the same style of music,” the former English
policeman said. “I wanted them to have a wonderful time together, listen to
music, eat and enjoy while. Helping the underprivileged children I saw in
Yasothon.”
Over 300 tickets were sold and the money raised will once again go to
help schools for orphans.
