At a star-studded event held around the swimming pool,
complete with a string and woodwind trio, plus famous Thai entertainer Tik
Shiro and attended by H.E. Michael Sternberg, the Danish Ambassador to
Thailand, the Ottesen family revealed their latest addition to the “empire”.
This was the Jomtien Beach Penthouses on Soi 9 Jomtien.
The introduction was handled by Peter Malhotra of the
Pattaya Mail who spoke on the colorful history of Ib Ottesen, both in
Denmark and then in Thailand. The young man who disembarked in Bangkok, with
a guitar over his shoulder and 2,000 baht in his pocket and a mind full of
ideas, had certainly come far!
Patriarch Ib Ottesen, in his short address, spoke on the
hard work his family had done to bring the project to fruition, with a
special reference to his wife Kanikar and son Allan, with almost all the
family on hand to support Ib and Kanikar at the opening.
Of particular importance was the address by the outgoing
Danish Ambassador H.E. Michael Sternberg who finished his speech by thanking
Ib for “being a good Dane in Thailand.”
Catered by the Jomtien Boathouse, another of the
successful Ottesen projects, the guests were happy to linger over their
congratulations to the Ottesen family. And the wine helped!
Nearly
everyone who is someone
in Pattaya was on hand to congratulate the Ottesens.
