Cleaning up Jomtien Beach

Before.

After.

Aloha;

This is to let all the people that patronize Dongtan Beach know that Pattaya Mayor Itthiphol Kunplome has kept his word. On November 3rd, the same day that the Pollution Solution Group spoke with him, the mayor not only had all of the garbage removed at the parking lot entrance at Dongtan Beach, he also added more of the needed garbage cans and had the garbage removed from the storm drain, so when it rains, only rain water will go into our ocean.

We are honored that the mayor could take time out of his busy schedule to talk with the Pollution Solution Group, and we are confident that the mayor is going to continue to take steps to have cleaner beaches and waterways, which is one of his major projects.

The Pollution Solution Group takes our hat off to the Mayor Itthiphol.

Another noisy Halloween

Editor;

For the second time in two years, I have just had to endure the Pattaya Halloween concert. Not only did the music blare out until 1.30 a.m. for the two nights but the rehearsals and equipment testing started around 11.00 in the morning and carried on till the concert started.

I could understand the need for a central location on Beach Road if it was an international concert but this is a 100% Thai affair, a concert for Thai people by Thai people. There is nothing wrong with that, Thai people deserve their entertainment like everyone else but why locate it in the middle of the tourist area of the city where it will annoy and infuriate tourists who have paid up to 3000 baht a night, only to be forced to listen to outrageous decibels? Would it not make more sense to locate the concert in Sattahip, Nong Nooch, Naklua or a dozen other places?

This concert will not attract one new Farang visitor and there is a good chance that it will drive many away. Pattaya City Council are always saying that they want to attract more families - can you imagine what it must be like to have young children, who are staying in hotels like the Tropicana, Hard Rock, Montien, Discovery, etc, kept awake till 1.30 a.m. for two nights in a row.

For those who perpetually say “if you don’t like it, go home”, I say you’re right and I personally will never again come to Pattaya in the month of October.

UK citizen

Please donate to CPDC

My dear friends,

It is once again the time of year in which I wrote to you in searching for kind support of Christmas presents for the children at the Pattaya Orphanage and street children at the Child Protection and Development Center. We have 192 orphans, 35 deaf, plus 49 street kids at CPDC.

As you may have heard, apart from the bad economic and political situation, there has been flooding in the North and Northeast and the storms downed many provinces in the South, it is really another bad year for Thailand. The government has cancelled their approved fiscal budgets in supporting the orphanage in 2009 and 2010, even though it is less than one million baht annually. With the situation going on in the country, we’re afraid we will not receive government support for another year. Oh dear.

I really have much hope that you will be so kind to contribute in a small way, any way you possibly can, as drops of water making the sea. As always, your kindness is highly appreciated by all of us and the children. May God Bless You.

With gratitude as always,
Toy
