Lighthouse Club of Pattaya shines over Thai Garden Resort

Paul Strachan

The Lighthouse Club of Pattaya continued to spread its glow across the social scene in town when it held its monthly networking event on Friday the 29th of October, the venue this time being the Thai Garden Resort.

Russell Jay Darrell, MD of Mix FM 88.5, Tim Gladwin MD of Sallmanns.

There aren’t many networking events that have a constant flow of new faces, and that plays a huge part in the success of this particular club.

But who goes there?

With over two hundred people surrounding the beautiful pool at Thai Garden resort I won’t give the full list, but as well as agents for the real estate sector they also attract small business owners, tour operators, legal staff, marketing departments; in fact anybody who would benefit from ‘pressing the flesh’ and meeting new contacts.

The Lighthouse Club is in fact a global organization which specifically aids children who have been disadvantaged by the building trade. Many clubs exist around the world; however, the committee here in Pattaya has been working tirelessly to make the club more attractive and has been very inventive, by choosing the right venues, with the right sponsors and at the right price.

The sponsor for this particular event was Vistas, a relatively new company who were on hand to promote their first project called The Peak Towers. Jason Young, who is the sales & marketing manager for Vistas, was busy circulating the throng and gave Pattaya Mail Television a quick interview giving a broad overview of the project and pointing out that all indicators are that the exchange rate is slowly moving in the right direction and that potential investors should get in quick and take the opportunity to buy off-plan and get some great discounts.

Another familiar face was the general manager of Thai Garden Resort, Rene Pisters. Rene stated that he was delighted with his occupancy rates and very happy to welcome so many people to his resort. Rene has been the GM there for ten years now and overlooked its massive redevelopment last year. Tucked away behind Moon River Pub, I am sure the resort and pool area was a big surprise to the networkers.

The Lighthouse Club recently increased its entrance fees by 100 baht, so gents pay 600 and ladies pay 300. This by no means put people off and offers great value. Rene and his team put on a great spread of food and the beer and wine went on forever.

There were a lot of ladies present, but there was one diminutive angel that everyone (well the men at least) were waiting for. The charming Thai model Xanny Disjad. When she arrived she was clamored with people wanting to have their photo taken with her and little wonder, she is delightful and in a way the epitome of Thailand: kind, patient and with a smile that simply charms everyone she meets.

With all this going on it’s easy to forget that it is a charity event and on the night over 80,000 baht was raised for the coffers of the club, much of which will go onto the Melissa Cosgrove Children’s Foundation.

The next Lighthouse Club Networking is a special one for Christmas entitled ‘Movers and Shakers’ and will be held at Centara Grand Mirage and Spa on December the 3rd.

They have a website and Facebook page and Pattaya Mail will be there to not only cover the event but also to be part of one of the funniest, caring social evenings in Pattaya.
