Farewell Comrade

Farewell Comrade

On June 26th Phillip Ward, 52, from England passed away after being ill for 1 month

His passing was of great shock to all his friends here in Pattaya. Phillip had lived in Pattaya for the last 4 years and was a well liked guy who liked a good drink with good company. Anyone who frequented the bars on Soi Buakaow would have come across him at some time or another.

Phillip Ward 1958 - 2010

A staunch socialist and a mineworker since the age of 15, Phil would often tell stories, be they funny or sad, about the hardship he faced during the miners strike of 1984-1985 and the subsequent years after.

As an avid Manchester United fan Phil always tried to make sure to watch every game even if it meant staying out till the small hours to do so, although by this time he was usually seeing two TV screens! He enjoyed his life here in Pattaya to the full every day and had planned to permanently retire here. A great character with Yorkshire grit who be greatly missed by all those who knew him, especially his girlfriend Pra.

He is survived by his two daughters: Catherine and Elizabeth.
