Events

The Biggles Big Band, a Jazz Big Band from the Netherlands, will be performing at the Ravindra Beach Resort & Spa beachfront on Nov 17. This event is co-hosted by hotels in Chiang Rai, Bangkok, Kanchanaburi and Pattaya. The event received full support from the Dutch Embassy and TAT both in Bangkok and Pattaya. Tickets are 300 baht net per person including 1 drink. A Halloween-night celebration themed ‘Thriller Night’ is being organized at the Hotel Vista Pattaya, on October 31 with music by up-and-coming master DJ Butang and featuring “ghoulish” remixes of Michael Jackson hits. The night will run red with an unlimited flow of designer cocktails and free canapés from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., as professional entertainers cast their signature spooks and chills to all party guests. A joint BCCT/AMCHAM Eastern Seaboard Dinner will be held on Friday October 30 from 6.30 p.m. (45 minutes networking sponsored by the Amari Orchid Resort & Tower). Pattaya Players will once again be hosting their annual Horseshoe Point Halloween extravaganza on Saturday, October 31, 2009, this year entitled Spooks, Spirits and Specters. Unsuspecting spectators will be taken on a 30 minute guided walking tour of Horseshoe Point’s breathtaking Three Kingdoms Park, highlighting ghost stories from all around the world. In addition to the Ghost Tour there will be many activities, rides and games for children and adults of all ages to enjoy. Fair-style food and drinks will be on sale all night long. Taking place from 6 p.m. onwards, tickets will be sold on the night of the event only. The Pattaya International Ladies Club (PILC) Annual Gala Ball, “Live and Let’s Dine, Bond Style” will be held at Aranda Ballroom, Amari Orchid on Saturday November 14. The next Pattaya City Expats Club (PCEC) meeting will be on Sunday, Nov. 1 and everyone is warmly welcome to attend. The club meets every Sunday morning at Henry J. Bean’s Restaurant on the north end of Beach Road in the grounds of the Amari Orchid Resort. The program starts as usual at 10:30 a.m. with a buffet breakfast available from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Each week the PCEC has an interesting speaker to talk on various subjects of interest in an informal setting. There will be a little magic at the next meeting as the guest speaker will be “Magic” Howard Posener who is recognized as one of the world’s leading magicians. His talk will be followed by the ever-lively and often humorous Open Forum and an update on the happenings in and around Pattaya. A full report appears each week in Pattaya Mail. For the past 28 years the Samaritans of Thailand have been providing confidential crisis intervention services over the telephone. The English-speaking unit, Samaritans English Help Line operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to provide support to the expatriate community. English-speaking staff, trained in crisis intervention will provide active, non-judgmental and empathetic listening services on the phone.
