children from the Redemptorist drop-in center were thrilled to see Santa arrive
on an elephant to hand out presents and spread good will at the Pinnacle Grand
Hotel. At this holiday time of warmth and happiness, the Pattaya Mail team

British ambassador opens
Pattaya consulate
His Excellency Quinton Quayle, the British ambassador to Thailand and Laos,
officially opened the British consulate here on December 15. It is located in
Jomtien Soi 5, just a few doors from the immigration police bureau.
In his speech the ambassador said that he personally had taken a keen interest
in opening an office in the resort because the foreign office statistics showed
that there was an urgent need for the expansion.
Guests of honour were Police Colonel Somnuk Changate, superintendent of
Banglamung police station, and Police Colonel Arnonnun Kamollut, superintendent
of Pattaya Immigration.

Hard Rock lights up for charity

The 7th running of the Hard Rock Hotel’s Christmas
Charity Light Up Dinner was held last weekend, packing the Hall of Fame.
The people who attended were a true cross-section of the Eastern
Seaboard community, both Thai and expats, government officials, NGO’s
and private industry, and all ready to support the charity movement.

Regent’s students bring Shakespeare’s
“The Comedy Of Errors” to the Globe stage

A cast of 31 secondary students, aged 14-18 recently staged Shakespeare’s
The Comedy of Errors in the Globe Theatre. The production involved 8 weeks
of rigorous rehearsals which included a preparatory workshop on Commedia
dell Arte led by Drama teacher Suzzie Sauer.

Disabled athletes take star billing
at Special Olympics

Intellectually-disabled athletes took to the Nongprue running
tracks in force recently to compete in a Special Olympics event,
designed for the purpose of helping develop the mind and body of those
with mental disabilities. Niyom Tiangthum, Deputy Mayor of Nongprue,
presided over the opening ceremony of 2nd Special Olympics which saw a
total of 180 athletes competing.

Marriott Resort & Spa, was honored to welcome Thailand’s German
Ambassador, HE Dr. Hanns Schumacher, to the hotel. The ambassador came to
visit the resort to attend the 4th Advisory Board Meeting from the
