Sikh Community donates
towards YWCA scholarships
Vimolrat Singnikorn
The Pattaya Thai-Sikh Community, led by Amrik Singh Kalra,
president, has made a donation to the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center for
distribution as scholarships.
The community on July 20 presented the funds to Nittaya Patimasongkroh,
chairwoman of the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center, and Premruedee
Jittiwutthikarn, who heads the center’s Lunch Project, a part of the YWCA’s
Warm Family Project.
Nittaya said that the money would be added to the education fund under the
Warm Family project, and that the scholarships would be presented to Pattaya
City schools during a ceremony on August 26 at Mike Shopping Mall.
The Warm Family Project, which began 18 years ago, currently assists
approximately 500 students from primary school class 1 to high school. This
year the YWCA plans to add one scholarship for a deserving bachelor’s degree
student. The association will pay all expenses for the entire education year
for this student.
Anyone interested in donating to the scholarship program can contact the
Young Women’s Christian Association of Bangkok-Pattaya at address 206/98,
Soi Town in Town, Central Pattaya Road, 20150, tel. & fax. 038-716316.

Pupils from the College at Asian University dance their way to success
Black Modern danced their
way to 4th place
in the recent Dance-battle at Laemtong, Rayong.
Six pupils from the College at Asian University
formed a dance team, calling themselves Black Modern, and entered the
Dance-battle at Laemtong, Rayong. On July 26, the first day of the
competition, they competed against twenty-four other teams, many of whom
were professional dancers and danced their way through to the final
stage, with seven other teams. They had a busy Saturday evening,
designing and preparing a new dance routine for the finals on Sunday
July 27, and they were rewarded with fourth place.
The team members were Bow, Durian, Jay and Maratti (Grade 12, science),
Ken (Grade 11, humanities) and Vor (Grade 10, science) who were aided
and encouraged by their PE teacher, Ajarn Nita.

Incredibly, there are already only 37 days left until this
year’s Children’s Fair gets here! That’s right, our annual family outing
on Sunday, September 14th at the Diana Garden Resort and Driving Range
in North Pattaya is right around the corner.
As a consequence, we are in a full-action mode as we enter the final
phase of organizing our main event. And we can use your help too!
