The Puan Rak Nong Group led by Kosit Kaewtrairat and Naris Sirisri presented scholarships to students from all 10 schools under Pattaya City jurisdiction at a ceremony held at City Hall on July 26.
Mayor Niran Wattanasartsathorn presided over the donation ceremony, which was the fourth in the annual series organized by Puan Rak Nong.
Kosit said the scholarships program was created in 2004 for students who have good grades, but whose parents are not able to support their education expenses. This year 1,000 baht was provided per scholarship, with a total of 30,000 baht for 30 scholarships. Three scholarships were provided for each school for students from primary school class 1 to secondary school class 3.
“There are many students who have good grades, but live in poverty. This problem urgently needs support, otherwise these students will not have the opportunity to learn at a higher level,” said Kosit.
Mayor Niran said it was heart-warming that so many people are concerned about the youngsters and their education. Many school students in Pattaya are from families who lack capital, and charitable organizations such as Puan Rak Nong play a very important role.
