With our Jesters Children’s Fair only a scant 5 weeks away when this issue
of the Pattaya Mail hits the stands, we are proud to announce that as of
July 29th the running total of the corporate/individual sponsorship and
pledge program in both cash and kind is currently at a stunning 3,628,500
baht; a figure that already exceeds the grand total collected last year in
the same categories.

Friends Love Youngsters group presents scholarships for third year

Puen Rak Nong, the Friends Love Youngsters group led by Kosit
Kaewtrairat and Naris Sirisri on July 28 presented scholarships to
students in Pattaya City Schools 1 to 10 who show promise in their
studies.

Deputy Mayor Wattana Jantanawaranon conducted the presentation ceremony,
with this being the third year in succession that the scholarships have
been awarded.
Naris said the program was designed to help children with good academic
records but who are from underprivileged families and who may otherwise
have difficulty continuing their education. This year 30 scholarships
were presented, each one for 1,000 baht, a total of 30,000 baht. Three
scholarships were given to each school to the children from the first
primary school year to the ninth secondary school year.
Wattana said that many students within the Pattaya City school system
have education problems due to their family’s lack of money and it is
good that there are organizations donating scholarships to help them.

Nitaya Patimasongkroh, chairwoman of the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya
Center, on July 14 at the Diana Garden Resort held a meeting to discuss
the distribution of scholarships to 45 schools.
The scholarships are part of the YWCA Warm Family Project, with the
presentation ceremony set for August 24 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the
Pattaya School No 2 gymnasium.
Valued at 18,000 baht each, the scholarships are supported by many
different organizations. In addition Bernard Tuppin, charity chairman of
the Pattaya Sports Club will be presenting 20 scholarships valued at
10,000 baht each.
The scholarships are for underprivileged children who show good academic
progress in Pattaya’s schools.
Dr Olivier Meyer, president of Pattaya Marina Rotary Club additionally
advised the meeting that the club will be adding 47 scholarships at a
total of 84,600 baht to the Warm Family Project, and a representative
for Espace Francophone Pattaya added to the project with five
scholarships for the amount of 9,000 baht.
Marriott presents 60 scholarships under Spirit to Serve project

Pattaya Marriott Resort and Spa on July 22 presented scholarships to
60 students in a ceremony held to commemorate His Majesty the King’s
60th anniversary.

of Taksin-Pattaya charter president and Supadit Maneeratjarusri,
executive director of the Royal Garden Plaza present scholarships.
Supadit Maneeratjarusri, executive director of the Royal Garden Plaza
presided over the opening ceremony, which included a speech by Hans Jean
Schaad, Rotary Club of Taksin-Pattaya and Peter Thorand, Rotary Club of
Taksin-Pattaya charter president, who is also assistant district
governor 2005-2006.
The scholarships were awarded under the Spirit to Serve project that the
hotel has held over the past three years to help society and its
underprivileged members by awarding scholarships to schoolchildren.
This year’s grants were presented to primary and secondary level
schoolchildren attending government and private schools in Pattaya. Each
of the 60 schoolchildren received a 2,000 baht scholarship.
The scholarships were
awarded to celebrate H.M. the King’s Golden Jubilee.
Sikh Club presents scholarships to YWCA Warm Family Project

President of the Sikh community in Pattaya and representative of the
Pattaya City Sikh Club Amrik Singh Kalra on July 23 presented
scholarships to schoolchildren under the Warm Family Project of the YWCA
Bangkok-Pattaya Center.

Nitaya Patimasongkroh, chairwoman of the YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center and
Waraphan Sukhontasit, vice chairwoman of the Warm Family Project were on
hand to receive the scholarships at the Sikh Temple. The donation
totaled 27,000 baht.
The YWCA Bangkok-Pattaya Center will distribute 500 scholarships under
auspices of the Warm Family Project at a value of 1,800 baht each on
August 24 at Pattaya School No 2, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The Sikh Temple also held a prayer ceremony for the full and speedy
recovery of His Majesty the King, following his recent operation.

Teachers decide on lineup
for Schools Annual Sports Day

Schoolteachers and education officials met on July 27 at Pattaya
City Hall to discuss the Schools Annual Sports Day, which will be held
this month.

(recreation officer) co-announces the Pattaya Schools Annual Sports Day
2006.
Chongrak na Nakhon, recreation officer acting on behalf of the head of
Pattaya youth activity headed the session, which was attended by 12
school representatives acting for Pattaya Schools 1 to 10, the Chai
Mongkol Temple Infant Development Center School, and Darulh Ibadah
School.
Kindergarten Sports Day will be on August 22 and the
Schools Sports Day will be on August 25.
Recreation officer Pradit Thongchai proposed that the kindergarten
teachers select appropriate games for the kindergarten students, and
this was agreed with a decision to make some changes to earlier games
lineups. The School Sports will be divided into two categories, for the
under 12s and the under 15s. Games such as table tennis, field athletics
and petong will be included.
