Pattaya Marriott Resort & Spa organized a fund raising dinner for
Mabprachan School on September 3, in conjunction with the Rotary Club,
Jomtien-Pattaya, Rotary Club, Taksin Pattaya, Rotary Club, Marina, Rotary
Club Pattaya, Rotary Eastern Seaboard, YWCA (Bangkok-Pattaya Center), and
the Pattaya International Ladies Club. Guest of honor was Mayor Niran
Wattanasartsathorn. The hotel’s general manager Somsak Tanruengsri said the
dinner was part of the Pattaya Marriott’s ongoing commitment to help
support Mabprachan School. At present this school has 86 students but only
three teachers. There are no assistant teachers and no janitor. The school
building needs repairs but lacks a budget for them. The canteen needs
equipment. More furniture is needed. The library, playground and public
utilities all need urgent attention. By supporting the school, said Somsak,
the hotel is giving back to society in addition to giving help where it is
desperately needed.Mayor Niran said that everyone participating in the
fund-raiser has the same objective in mind, to improve the facilities of
Mabprachan School. “The school desperately needs bricks, stones, cement
and sand, but to operate as an educational center, teachers and learning
materials are continually needed,” he said. The dinner, which had a “Blue
& White Party” theme, included a special menu from the hotel along
with stage shows including a ballet by Studio Dance and a hula-hula dance by
Mabprachan School students. There was an auction and a lucky draw, and a
fashion show. The amount raised was 621, 825 baht, which the hotel will hand
over to the school.
