Events

The International Riding School at Horseshoe Point is hosting the 2005 FEI World Jumping Challenge on Friday, August 5 to Sunday August 7. The opening ceremony is on August 5 from 4.30 p.m. with show jumping classes to follow. The competition continues on August 6 at 8 a.m. with dressage classes, and at 1 p.m., the show jumping carries on throughout the afternoon and all day on Sunday August 7. Everyone is welcome to watch.

There will be a Celebration of the Eucharist according to the English Rite on Sunday August 7 at 3 p.m. at the Redemptorist Center on Sukhumvit Road. This will be a celebration of the Feast of the Transfiguration (August 6). It is hoped that regular (if not weekly) “Church of England/Anglican/Episcopalian” services and celebrations will be held in the future. All communicant members of the Christian Faith are invited to attend and take part in this service. Thor Halland and the Revd. Fr. Allan Sherratt have, over the last few months, been in discussion with members of the expat community in Pattaya about the lack of religious facilities of the “higher” Anglican variety. Where there are churches and meeting places for the Roman Catholic and Evangelical Christians there is a definite lack of facilities for worship and pastoral care of the Anglican Christians, so it was with great pleasure that Thor’s request to the Redemptorist Center to use their chapel were greeted favorably.

AustCham will host an Eastern Seaboard Sundowners on Friday August 19. The sundowner coincides with a chamber visit to GM Plant Site the same day. The evening event will be held at the Amari Orchid Resort, Pattaya and is 300 baht members, 750 baht non-members. For more details and to book this event through: http://www.austchamthailand.com
