St Andrews children go to the markets

Written by Saki Yamamoto - Year 2

On Wednesday Year 2 went to Ban Chang Markets. We went at 9 o’clock and we went with Mrs Crouch. When we were on the bus, we saw the movie ‘Tom and Jerry’. When we got to the markets, I was so excited. There were so many fruits and vegetables. But it was smelly and my head hurt too.

Nick and Mark are ready to sell oranges.

We saw some little crabs and some big fish. There were also fish that had been dried in the sun. I had to hold my nose when I walked past that part.

We went through the markets and drew pictures of what we saw. Then we bought carrots, potatoes, onions and garlic.

When we got back to St Andrews, we went downstairs and made our pumpkin soup. We put the soup in little bowls and ate it with some bread. It tasted yummy. I had two bowls of soup! It was a fantastic day.

Craig shows off his buys.

Paulina and Mary enjoy the day.

GIS students show their impressive Monet-influenced works

The children in Year 6, Garden International School, have been looking at the work of the French Impressionist artist Claude Monet. The Class visited Eastern Star to make observational drawings of lotus flowers and their reflections on the water. They also made closer observational drawings of water lilies in school.

The children experimented with pencil drawings and water colour crayons. They have also made 3D paper sculptures of flowers similar to those which are floated down rivers during the Loy Krathong Festival.

Garden International School Year 6 students have created impressive Monet-influenced art.

Their work will continue with mixed media painting in the style of Monet. The children have been enthusiastic and this is reflected in the quality of their work, which is on display in the classroom.

Garden International School’s IB students strike fear throughout the school

Halloween time was once again upon us. The IB CAS students of Garden International School entertained the Primary students by setting up a Haunted House on Friday, October 29. We also held a BBQ dress-up party in the evening with attendance of over 150 people.

Run for your lives! No wait, it’s just the Garden International School IB CAS students.

As an additional diversion, we also decided to open the Haunted House for parents, teachers and secondary students!

The IB students developed their Creativity, Action, and Service skills by planning, designing, advertising and constructing the Haunted House. They organized the BBQ and sale of drinks. We raised approximately 5,000 baht, which will be used for the Camillian Centre children when they attend our Christmas Fair.

The Haunted House and BBQ was a huge success with a very good turnout. Everyone had a blast but all good things come to an end, and alas! so did this party.
