PSC 34th Members Tournament

Friday October 17, Khao Kheow Golf Course

Another big field teed off at Khao Kheow to contest this fine day out, organised by Gerry Carpenter, PSC golf chairman and his committee. Another fine day spent on this course, that, whilst not in it’s finest condition, is such a quality course that it is always a pleasure and privilege to play and also a course that tests your golf to the ultimate. There are no easy shots, you play well or you suffer.

A Flight and Gross Winner Jeff Wylie (left) receives the trophy from PSC Chairman Gerry Carpenter.

On the day most golfers suffered and this was shown when the new category introduced into this competition of the Low Gross was won by a pretty average gross 82 by Jeff Wylie. One would expect with the quality of golfers in the competition that someone would shoot in the 70’s, and I remember Jeff shooting 71 and dropping shots at 17th and 18th when 69 looked on, but this shows the difficulty of the course on the day and you only have to win the test on the day. Well done to Jeff and well done to the course.

Thea De Korte, winner of the Ladies Flight, receives her trophy from PSC Golf Chairman Gerry Carpenter.

Lets start with the results of the fairer sex as they had a fine tussle finally being won by Thea De Korte with 37 points ahead of Chant Schulwera with 36 points and in third was Kay Forsythe with 35 points.

Onto the less fair sex and on the day they found the going tough, but surprisingly the less able golfers seemed to handle the course the better, perhaps because they were playing Stableford!

In the D flight, 23 to 36, the scores were the best in any flight, but then went downhill fast. The winner of the D flight was David Earthrowl with a days best 41 points, but only one ahead of Danny O’Donnel with 40 points and in third was John Dearden with 35 points.

The C flight, 19 to 22, was won by Perry McNeely with the only good score in the flight and he had 38 points. Four points back on 34 points we had a countback for second that was won by Trevor Carnahof with Carl Baumann in third.

In the A & B flights we had a gross competition and the players found the going tough, however the B flight did quite respectively and Gene Rooney came in with a good net 69 to win the flight. Second with a net 71 was Bill Plath and third with a net 75 was Brian Platts. Of interest to note, if Gene and Bill had been playing in the A flight, with their gross scores they would have been second and third.

The A flight, 0 to 13, was won by the Gross score winner Jeff Wylie with a net 76 ahead of Rob McDonald on net 78 in second with Gary Blackburne in third on net 79 ahead of Dennis Willet on countback.

This competition owes a lot to it’s sponsors and helpers and to all, the PSC Golf Chairman would like to give his thanks.

A Flight Winner: Jeff Wylie; Second: Rob McDonald; Third: Gary Blackburne

B Flight Winner: Gene Rooney; Second: Bill Plath; Third: Brian Platts

C Flight Winner: Perry McNeeley; Second: Trevor Carnahoff; Third: Carl Baumann

D Flight Winner: David Earthrowl; Second: Danny O’Donnel; Third: John Dearden

L Flight Winner: Thea De Korte; Second: Chant Schwetera; Third Kathy Forsythe

Low Gross: Jeff Wylie

Long Drive Men, 0 to 19: Larry Willett; 20 to 36: Rob Aughton; Ladies: Alice Ramsay

Longest 1st putt: #9, 0 to 19: Graham Ramsay; 20 to 36: James Flanagan; Ladies: Moira Ledingham; #18, 0 to 19: Ian Halfpenny; 20 to 36: Chris Cowley; Ladies: Moira Ledingham.

Near Pin: #5, 0 to 19: Gerhard Schulz; 20 to 36: David Zlatarich; Ladies: Chant Schulwera; #8, 0 to 19: Marcel Wittwer; 20 to 36: Rob Cooke; Ladies: Chant Schulwera; #11, 0 to 19: Nil; 20 to 36: John Dearden; Ladies: Nattaporn Thongpen; #17, 0 to 19: Ian Halfpenny; 20 to 36: Dan Sell; Ladies: Kate Forsythe.

YWCA hosts 2003 Junior Badminton Championships

Suchada Tupchai

Over 200 budding young badminton players took part in the recent YWCA Junior Badminton Championships 2003. The opening ceremonies were performed by Wittaya Khunpluem, Chonburi MP and president of the Chonburi athletics association.

An agile badminton player reaches for the shuttlecock.

The 16th annual competition began as a means of teaching children, boys and girls, from the age of 11-16, the value of sportsmanship and the need for exercise.

Jittra Wanasin, president of the YWCA Bangkok Chonburi branch relayed the history of the event to spectators and competitors during the opening of the 3-day competition.

During the opening address, Wittaya said, “Sporting activities are becoming more popular among the youth of today. Many of them, we hope, will go on to represent their province and their country in both national and international competitions. It is competitions such as this that develop and further the skills of these young athletes.”

PSC fishing from Bobby Joe’s 60’s bar

Sunday October 5. Well what a magnificent day this turned out to be, and the day as a whole shows you exactly what fishing is about and how out of disappointment for week after week, despite landing some fine fish for trip after trip, that stomach churning moment comes when you least expect it.

The family who went out for a fun day are now all converted fishermen, especially the young son.

The day started out as normal with the family who were going out meeting us at the 60’s bar for some of Bobby Joe’s free coffee, fine fellow, then a slow amble along beach road taking in the queue’s of tourists slowly wending their way to the speed boats going to the Islands, and taking in the placid sea that we were soon to skim over. Bua, the boss, decided to brave the day also as the sea was so fine and we still had Dramamine, so no seasickness.

On the longboat out to the fishing boat the light hearted attitude to the day was set with a happy bunch and onto the boat, batten down the hatches and lets get under way. What a lovely day, with the sea calm and the gentle lapping of the waves against the side, it seemed a sin to go upstairs and sleep in the deck chairs, but someone has to do it.

Out to the area and the small fish were no problem, the barbie would be going well tonight and the sea was superb, what a super day, but as the captain kept uttering “No big fish, no big fish” the day rolled on. Too soon it seemed it was time to consider that in half an hour or so it would be time to return, still it had been a fine day, and all were happy. “Nice day” I said “pity about the fish, still we can’t always catch a big one”.

With these words all hell let loose, the balloons we had out disappeared, the heart started pounding and out of the water jumped a magnificent sailfish, walking on the water, all does come to he who waits. Hands on the rod, heart pumping, please don’t let me mess this one up, and I didn’t.

After a great 40 minute fight during which the fish jumped several more times, and circled the boat at great speed showing it’s sail proudly above the water, it was finally brought to the side of the boat and hauled aboard. The fish of a lifetime and at 8ft 4 ins and over 50 kg - the biggest landed in Pattaya in 8 years. Unfortunately it had taken the bait and hooks down and could not be saved but would look stately over someone’s bar.

Back at Bobby Joe’s the “proper fishermen” gathered to see, never believe a fisherman, and the fish was measured and weighed. The family who went out are now converted fishermen, especially the young son who was beaming fit to burst, and Bua now understands the lure of the fish.

As for me, there is no truth to the rumour that I am being sent to Borneo to get my head shrunk.

Terry and Moon clear off the field

Shenanigans Very Friendly Golf Society

Mike Franklin

Terry Phur and Moon Schwelera came in three shots clear of the field in Shenanigans Pairs Scramble at Plutaluang on October 14. The South and East courses were wet under foot at the start, and conditions improved with fine weather right up to mid afternoon when the heavens opened with torrential rain. Most of the players were already in but Terry and Moon’s group were last and got the full impact of the storm. However, their score held up with a gross 73 resulting in a net 66.6 off their combined handicap of 6.4.

(L to R) Moon Schwelera, Mike Franklin and Terry Phur, at the presentation in Shenanigans.

There was only one team prize as the field was small, but the usual technicals were on offer, going to Larry Willett, Bob Pearce, Rich Wibrow and Terry Phur for the near pins, and Kim Fletcher and Carl Bauman for the long putts.

Tuesday October 28 is the next date, this time for a 4 Clubs Pairs Scramble. Sign-up at Shenanigans.

Caf้é Kronborg moves into third place

Pattaya Sports Club Friday Bowling League

Café้ Kronborg moved into third place ahead of Shakey Pete’s, as they were the only one of the top four teams to win on week 11. Once again it was Captain Kran who led the Kronborg team with a 202 game and 554 series to a three point win over Shakey Pete’s.

First place Post 9876 lost three points to Alt Koelle and second place House of the Golden Coin lost three points to Café้ Ole. Captain Tue led Caf้é Ole with a 202 game and 589-pin count, Mai rolled a 211 game, 519 series and Ken added another 505-pin total. Captain Mio was best for Golden Coin with a 200 game and 545 series. Jack & Tar took three points from Nam Tip to remain in fifth place.

Moving up in the standings is Night Life who took three points from Brother D. Somrak rolled a 217 game and had a 551-pin count to lead Night Life. Jim led Nice & Sleazy to a four point sweep over Three Sisters bowling the best series for men for over two years. Jim had games of 197, 201, and 215, for a 613 series.

Monthly Medal sizzles with Weller’s 65

IPGC golf from Lewiinski’s

Monthly Medal

1st Place A Flight: Steve Weller, net 65

2nd Place A Flight: John Emmerson, net 66

3rd Place A Flight: An Kaesavane, net 67

1st Place B Flight: Paul Walia, net 68

2nd Place B Flight: Bob Lindborg, net 69

3rd Place B Flight: Brian Wilkerson, net 70

Steve Weller knew the round was out there, it just hadn’t been answering the call. Well it heard him in time to take the Monthly Medal as he scorched the course with a gross 76, whooping net 65. Every bit of that scorching was required as a sublime day had the field tightly bunched and low.

In quick succession, Steve was followed by the Golf Manager and An Kaesavane, each just a stroke back from the other. Paul Walia stepped across the street from Mulligan’s and laid a net 68 on the course for the top step in B Flight, with perennial winner Bob Lindborg just a shot back, and Brian Wilkenson yet another back. Eddie Blackwell had an ace on the promiscuous 16th hole that yields more easily then some of the girls on Soi Six.

Tuesday October 14

C & A - White Tees
Stroke/Medal

1st Place A Flight: Rick Sharp, net 72

2nd Place A Flight: John McHugh, net 74

3rd Place A Flight: Eddie Blackwell, net 74

1st Place B Flight: John Rehm, net 66

2nd Place B Flight: Eric O’Brien, net 74

3rd Place B Flight: Peter Ingham, net 74

Somebody woke John Rehm up! John who managed a lower podium finish in several efforts went off like a bomb at Jack’s favorite layout and left the field 6 shots clear! History suggests that the consistency of the fairway lie can help the higher handicapper find the “groove” and John certainly did this day. He left the lower steps to the podium to be sorted by count back between Eric O’B and Peter Ingram. Peter won the countback but Eric weighed more stone so he received the second place prize.

Rick Sharp felt the account was getting a little low so he threw level par at it and stood atop A. John McHugh edged Eddie Blackwell on count back to sort out the rest of A.

Stableford

1st Place A Flight: Troy Misiak, 40 points

2nd Place A Flight: Eddie Blackwell, 40 points

3rd Place A Flight: Stuart Brown, 40 points

1st Place B Flight: Eric O’Brien, 39 points

2nd Place B Flight: Mike Frizzell, 37 points

3rd Place B Flight: Bob Pearce, 35 points

It is always tough to loose a count back. It is always tough not to win when you have 40 points. Well it happened to both Eddie Blackwell and Stuart Brown as they were left to second and third in A Flight, respectively, as Troy Misiak’s 40 was more favorably dispersed between outward and inward nine.

Eric O’Brien continued to have his way with Pattaya as he made his second trip to the pay window in as many attempts winning B Flight two clear. Big Mike Frizzell came second and mild mannered Bob Pearce third.

Friday October 17
Burapha - A & B - Blue Tees
Stroke/Medal

1st Place: Phil Groves, net 73

2nd Place: Eddie Blackwell, net 73

3rd Place: Brian Wilkerson, net 74

Phil used to visit Lewiinksi’s from his native Haven just when he was short on cash but lately he has found the feeding so good he has found it difficult to leave. It didn’t come easy though as countback was required to edge red hot Eddie Blackwell for the top spot. If my math is correct Eddie has stepped to the pay window in six of his last seven competitions with the only “off” round being accented with a hole-in-one. The handicap software has to be smoking just trying to keep up with Eddie. Brian Wilkenson just quietly keeps sliding onto the podium, when no one is looking, as he took third on the day.

Note:

Lewiinski’s will return to its traditional High Season schedule of Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday beginning Sunday, November 2.

Unlucky 13th - for some players

3 Sisters golf

Monday was the thirteenth, but for Bob Benda, it was the lucky thirteenth as he came in with 38 points to win the bragging rights for the day. Bob is normally near the top of the pile but today he scrambled and fought his way to the top with good drives and good putting. With the fairways in terrible shape, soaked and uncut, 38 points was an excellent score as the ball hardly moved after hitting the ground.

Following behind Bob was Derek Brook who has been right at the top for the past few weeks. Sus Ige and Dick Worden also came in with a big 36 points. All three came in with 36 points but could not muster enough good shots to take the lead.

This week we had two youngsters at the bottom of the pile. Young that is, in comparison to the field. Bill Key, with his wide shoulders, shrugged off the load and managed to have Paul Kinner caught under it. Both Paul and Bill managed to get 19 points each but Paul beat out Bill on countback scoring 9 big points on the back.

Tony Barritt so near to the treble

IPGC TAGGS golf from The Haven

Monday October 13
Green Valley
Stableford

Ladies Division:

1st Samantha Burke, 42
2nd Lamud Chaidara, 31

Men’s Division:

1st Tony Barritt, 39 cb9 20
2nd Peter Emslie, 39 cb9 16
3rd Brian Wilkinson, 36 cb9 20
4th Arthur Hancock, 36 cb9 19
5th Kevin Taylor, 36 cb9 16, cb6 10, cb3 5
6th Ciano Glavinia, 36 cb9 16, cb6 10, cb3 4
7th Harry Riley, 36 cb9 15

For the first time for a little while there were enough ladies contending to form a separate division. Samantha Burke got straight into the swing on her arrival for her bi-annual holiday, to sweep the rest of the hopefuls into oblivion on her way to firing a six under 42 points and easily take the top honours.

Tony Barritt took his first win of the week after a countback that saw him edge out Peter Emslie into second place by four shots over the back nine.

Brian Wilkinson led a group of five golfers contesting the count back for third place by a single shot from Arthur Hancock with Kevin Taylor, Ciano Glavinia and Harry Riley needing an exhausting countback by the scorers to determine fourth to sixth place.

The twos were shared between Chris Davisson and Richard Pietrzkiewiez.

Prior to the prize giving Richard Livingston, the resident PGA Professional, welcomed new member Mike Poirrier and also welcomed back Kevin Taylor, Samantha Burke, Moe Deverdenne, Roar Berger and Ole Stamnes.

Wednesday
October 15
Bangphra
Stroke Play

1st Division:

1st Tony Barritt, 72
2nd Kevin Taylor, 73
3rd Sven Berthlesen, 74

2nd Division:

1st Dave Lee, 71 cb9 35
2nd Bob Lindborg, 71 cb9 36
3rd Peter Emslie, 74

Bangphra is nearly back to its old self with the greens showing all their expected trickery and penalising anyone foolish enough to leave their ball above the hole on the approach shot, which almost inevitably produced a three putt and left the aspirations of many in tatters during the day.

Tony Barritt is at last beginning to show some of his old potential as he led the first division to take his second win of the week by a shot from Kevin Taylor with Sven Berthlesen another shot back in third.

Dave Lee continued his good run of form just managing to beat Bob Lindborg into second with a better back nine after lagging by one at the turn. Peter Emslie although a further three shots back took third by a slightly bigger margin from Saranya Chaiyanont.

The twos were shared between Chris Davisson and Samantha Burke.

Before the prize giving Richard welcomed back Brian Kelly and Igor Saktor.

Friday October 17
Noble Place
Stableford

1st Mike Poirrier, 40
2nd Tony Barritt, 38
3rd Arthur Hancock, 37
4th Takeshi Hakozaki, 34 cb9 19
5th Al Rolnik, 34 cb9 16
6th Dave Lee, 34 cb9 14

It is a bit of a drive to get to Noble Place along the 331, but for those that made the effort to get there and play the excellent Nick Faldo designed course, the effort was well worth while, as the days contestants found the course to be first class condition in every respect. Tony Barritt was trying to equal “The Docs” record of three wins in a week, and very nearly made it. But he came up against a brick wall in the shape of Mike Poirrier, who took his first win out of The Haven by two shots, and dashed any hopes that he might have had of setting a new record run.

Arthur Hancock once again figured in the prizes, a further shot away in third.

Takaheshi Hakozaki claimed fourth place following a countback from Al Rolnik and the now usual suspect Dave Lee.

The twos pool was shared between Ray Walton, Mike Poirrier, Tony Barritt, Arthur Hancock and Trevor Schirmer.

Perry’s champagne golf at Noble Place

IPGC golf at the Bunker

A large group of Bunker Boys travelled the rough and rocky road to Noble Place on Tuesday, October 14, for their weekly medal round. They found the B and C courses in good condition after the heavy seasonal rains and a feast of golf was aniticipated by all golfers.

The field was cut into two divisions at eighteen and under and in division one Magnus Johansson fired and excellent gross 79, net 72, to grab third place. Second was Bob Morrison, very much on top of his game at present, with his fine 70, but leading the pack was Gerhard Schulze, playing off the lower of his two handicaps, with a fine net 69.

Division two saw the highlight of the day as Binni Josteinsson carded an excellent level par 72 for a round that saw him caress and cajole in some monster putts. Playing in the same four-ball was Les Harber who had even greater success, firing a total of net 69. The round of the day was produced by Perry McNeely, “holidaying” from the Philippines, and the course held no dangers for him as he recorded a five-under par net 67. Handicap adjustments loom for the latter two players! There were no birdie two’s and this surprised a non-playing Mr. Loy but he relished awarding the Bunker Banana Booby to John Gregory for his mistaken advice to his playing group that the competition was stableford based. All four “scratched” on a hole and therefore disqualified themselves! John, check the facts before you offer advice next time. Tuesdays are medal at the Bunker and Thursdays are stableford.

McNeely does it again

The Bunker Boys, under the direction of Mr. Loy, took to the notorious route #331 for the second time in three days, to play their weekly stableford competition at Treasure Hill on Thursday, October 16. Despite the absence of a few regulars, for whom a repeat journey was too much, the twenty players enjoyed the day on a course much improved and in fine and dry conditions.

The cut was at 18 and under and in division one scratch golfer Keith Smithson used his wonderful short game to tease 31 points out of the difficult course. One point ahead of him was Mark Joshua, on 32 and topping the group was Bill Hewitt, fresh from his break in England. Bill’s 34 points was an excellent achievement, given the course’s reputation. Division two players all struggled and only two managed to top thirty points. Steve Chadwick took third place with his meagre 23 points and John Gregory entered the clubhouse, smiling, with 35 points. Way out in front was new Bunker player, Perry McNeely, who used his PSC USGA handicap of 20 to amass an incredible 40 points. He then honorably applied for IPGC membership and a handicap more in tune with his current game. Perry joined Steve Nowell and John Gregory in a share of the Bunker Super Sawng award, the trio recording birdie two’s and smiling Leo Murphy lapped up the Bunker Banana Booby, swearing that next time he would improve on his paltry 15 points. Keep up to date with the Bunker Boys at http://www. thebunkerboys.com.

PSC golf from Caf้é Kronborg

Monday October 13
Bangpakong
Stableford

The beautiful and pristine Bangpakong Riverside Country Club was host for a Stableford competition. The fairways were very firm with plenty of run, the greens were hard and true and the bunkers had real sand. Conditions were hot and humid but some good scores were had.

Dave Richardson

Tournament organiser Dave Richardson took first place with a fine 39 points, ahead of in second Gene Rooney with 38 points. In third was Bill Plath with 37 points and in fourth Jay Perrin with 36 points.

The day was thoroughly enjoyed by all who found it a fine course to play.

Thursday October 16
Khao Kheow
Stableford

The test for the day at Khao Kheow was the A & B courses and while not in the best of condition this is always a tough test. As said the course has suffered a little of late due to the excess of rain but at least whilst last week we could only take carts on the cart paths, now we can go in the rough and this saves a fair walk. Mind it is still pretty soggy in places.

Bruce McAdam

Still what a magnificent course and especially tough with the rough a bit long and wet, so in the circumstances it was not surprising that not one person beat the course and we only had one score of 35 points.

The winner of the A flight, 0 to 16,was Brian Noguer with 34 points ahead of Stuart Thompsen with 33 points and Gene Rooney came in third with 32 points.

Brian Noguer

The winner of the B flight, 17 upwards, was Bruce Adams with 35 points ahead of John Sinclair with 34 and in third place was the new ‘Most photographed man in Pattaya’, Tim Holt with 31 points.

Back in the fine restaurant time was passed consuming the fine Kheo Beef before the next days Monthly Tournament could get at it.

The 5th ‘Diana Gold’ Charity Golf Tournament

Friday November 14, Plutaluang Thai Navy Golf Course

Mike Franklin

The 5th ‘Diana Gold’ Charity Golf Tournament, sponsored by Chivas Regal, will be held on its usual mid-November day, Friday November 14, at Plutaluang Thai Navy Golf Course.

The tournament format will be singles Stroke play on the East and South courses, with all groups teeing off from the first hole East Course, from 07.30 am to 12.30 pm.

The East and South nines have been booked for the whole day, so the only possible delay will be if groups are not keeping up with the group in front, as the usual crossover delay between the nines has been eliminated.

Marshals will be about the course to give ‘assistance’, where necessary, to ensure a smooth round for everyone and preferred tee times may be booked within the ‘Starting Time Periods’ shown on the Entry Form’.

As Plutaluang does not allow golf carts to be pre-booked, they will be pre- purchased for you on the day, provided your request is clearly shown on the entry form and your paid entry is in before the number of available carts has been taken up.

Bookings can be made, using the entry form, at the Diana Inn with John Cole, or with me.

As in the previous four years of the event, the key word is ‘Gold’ and there will be at least one One-baht Gold item to be won on every hole, and gold to be won in the lucky charity draw too.

All proceeds from the event will go to support the Chonburi Juvenile & Family Court Observation and Protection Center, and provide scholarships for children at Banglamung Schools.

Details and entry forms are available at the venues, Diana Inn and Green Bottle Pub, and in Pattaya Mail so here is an early opportunity to sign-up for Diana Gold and guarantee a preferred tee time and golf cart.

Holes on the East and South courses are also up for a One-Baht Gold, sponsorship with the sponsor board on display on the day, and thereafter for one year at the Diana Garden Resort & Driving Range.

Shenanigans ‘Four Club’ Challenge

Shenanigans Very Friendly Golf Society goes to Pattaya Country Club on Tuesday October 28 for one of those rare occasions when the players may only use four clubs on the course.

However, the ‘challenge’ is made somewhat easier as the format is a Pairs Scramble, which means that the ‘Pair’ may have eight clubs altogether. Careful pairing and club selection will make for an interesting round, and probably answer the question as to why we need so many clubs in the bag anyway.

Sign-up at Shenanigans for Tuesday October 28.

PSC golf from Bobby Joe’s 60’s bar

Friday October 10
Sriracha
Stableford

Up with the larks, or so it felt, I stumbled into Bobby Joe’s just as the rest were thinking of going. This cold will not go away, to be met by Bob Benda, the Organiser, in similar straights. So that’s two who aren’t going to win, and how right I was. Still I am going to have my breakfast before I go, after all I am driving so if I get upset l will take my ball home.

Bobby presents to Bob Benda and Eric O’Brien.

At Sriracha all starts well, we can have a cart and on the 1st the temporary green has gone, so far so good, but the greens are now like glass and the next course to be played is Siam. Help!

A lot of work is going on there now but we are informed the course will be completed by December and from what is seen it will be a fine course. Of course on this day we met two new temporary greens that nudged the patience of some. Still I think most of our group would play this course regularly as it is a fine course with a fine clubhouse and cold showers.

Bobby presents to Mac McCaskill and Tim Holt.

On this day I played with Eric O’Brien who had a fine round and looked all the way the winner, until Mac came in with an even finer round and won his first competition ever.

Back at Bobby’s as the players tucked into one of his fine Chilli Concarnys, Mac still in shock proceeded to buy all a drink, more than once, to enable him to have the biggest Bar Bill of the week. An informal vote has been taken, and Mac could be winning every week until he leaves. Cheers and yes Mac I’ll have another, thanks. What home?

Winner: Mac McCaskill

Technical Prizes: Bob Benda (2), Tim Holt, Eric O’Brien

Lucky Draw: Andy Evans

Peacock Bowling and Snooker Leagues

Mixed Doubles Bowls had some great matches again this week where Peacock just held on to win 6 - 4 against Yellowbirds in the lowest scoring match of the season. Bakehouse were almost in Double Trouble, 4 - 0 down after two ends, but came back to beat them 9 - 7. Then they came against an inspired Thaied team where Mam and Eddie kept their noses in front all the way to give Bakehouse only their second defeat of the season 8 - 7. The last match saw Yellowbirds David and Lek win 18 - 2 over an unlucky Double Trouble.

Ladies were a little depleted this week due to School Holidays but Mam scored her first win of the season 11 - 5 over Danny, Sue but then came up against in form Lek going down 14 - 2.

In the Snooker, Bill suffered his second defeat of the year going down 87 - 17 to Derek, but still looks in good shape for the title.

The Leagues are:

Lawn Bowling League

Mickey Mouse Darts League

Sunday Quiz League

Wednesday Quiz League
