Daniel seemed to enjoy the attention he received from his parents (left), aunties Kumud and Meena (centre) and grandmother Pushpa (right), whilst his many guests sang Happy Birthday to him.

Proud parents Mr. Ashutosh and Meena Sharma threw a grand party to celebrate the birthday of their son Daniel. UK Club reads the wrong calendar

The newly established UK Club celebrated Xmas last weekend at Henry J. Bean’s Bar and Grill. This was not, however, a mistake in the calendar, and over 70 people came along clutching Xmas presents and eagerly awaiting Santa to celebrate a light hearted Xmas in July.

Henry J Bean’s was packed to the rafters for the UK Club’s Xmas in July celebration.

Chairman Ron Hall (Pig & Whistle) welcomed everyone, while treasurer Malcolm McNicholas (Royal Heritage Asset Management) welcomed everyone’s money and secretary Malcolm Boden (Royal Heritage) ticked off the names as good secretaries do. In between the seven courses, MC’s Bob Lee and Michael Vogt kept the prizes and raffles going, to make the event a thorough success.

Pattaya will soon become the second home to the world’s leading entertainment hotel concept “Hard Rock Hotels” following the success of the first Hard Rock Hotel in Bali, which opened in 1998, winning the new Player of the Year Breakthrough Award presented by Travel Asia in 1998 and Best New Resort Hotel 1999 from Travel Gazette Asia.

Coming soon to Pattaya - Hard Rock Hotel

Overlooking the eastern shores of the Gulf of Thailand, the new Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya is set to let the good times roll! Asia’s second Hard Rock Hotel is a few minutes from the heart of Pattaya’s entertainment and shopping area, features 320 guest rooms and luxury suites, paying tribute to the past forty years of rock n’ roll culture.

Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya is owned by Hotel Properties Limited (HPL) Singapore which plans to open a chain of Hard Rock Hotels and Resorts worldwide, combing quality accommodation, casual dining, and recreational facilities, retail and world class entertainment conveniently under one roof.

Hard Rock Hotel Pattaya is scheduled to open on 1st November 2001 after a complete renovation. The resort includes Hard Rock Cafe on Beach Road, and “The Beach Club” - which, at approximately 2,000 sqm, will be the largest free form swimming pool in Pattaya. With 11 poolside cabanas, as well as a children’s pool with water slide, ‘cocktail’ and “foam party” pool, guests are sure to have a “rockin’ good time”. Other features include a Creche for the kids, ‘L’il Rock’ Kids Club with the latest computer games, health club with spa and conference facilities. A cool restaurant is also included with “Starz Diner”- a circa 1950’s retro style restaurant featuring Rock memorabilia, serving up a continually changing selection of Japanese, California, Italian and Thai/Chinese Cuisine, with a focus on the freshest seafood served up from the restaurant’s exhibition kitchen. Also, the “e Bar” is for electronic “surfers’ who must stay in touch with the world or just have a place to meet friends and enjoy the latest sounds or play the latest computer games over a drink.

Hard Rock Hotel’s well known merchandise shops will be available for those classic collectables and much more. This new hotel is sure to rock Pattaya & The Planet.

A message from Jesters Care for Kids charity drive’s perennial Platinum Sponsor

It’s that time of the year and yes; they’re doing it again!

The Chonburi and Siam Steel Mill Services Companies are happy to be committed to their fourth year of involvement with the Fountain of Life Children’s Center and are again participating as Platinum Corporate Sponsors, in support of the Jesters “Care for Kids 2001” Charity Drive.

Niel Poulsen presented 100,000 baht to Sisters Joan and Jiemjit at the Fountain of Life last year.

The past three years have been outstanding successes, primarily through the unselfish efforts of a small group of caring and community minded individuals, known as the organization committee. And of course, by and large the participation of the people of Pattaya - families, parents & children, local businesses, residents, and tourists alike - having contributed to making the fund raising activities so pleasurable and successful.

The Jesters “Care for Kids 2001” charity drive is not only about having a fun day out, think of the rewards.

The Yr. 2001 extravaganza will bring tremendous enjoyment to thousands of people in Pattaya, children and adults alike. It will enable and contribute to an improved standard of living and most importantly, instill a sense of individual worth and personal value, with the vision of a brighter future for many young underprivileged and disadvantaged Thai children.

Mr Niel Poulsen, the managing director of both CSMS & SSMS said, “The guaranteed personal sense and feeling of pride and accomplishment with being involved in such a worthwhile cause, can only be described as euphoric!”

Mr Poulsen also shared with us the following, “It has been a long standing tradition and mission statement initiative of the USA parent company, the Edward C. Levy Group of Co., who heartily agree with the tenet ‘To repay the communities that support our businesses, by operating safe and economically sound ventures, while sharing our success with worthwhile charitable causes.’ Chonburi and Siam Steel Mill Services is proud to uphold this very commendable tradition with a welcome windfall to the Fountain of Life Children’s Center and the unfortunate Thai children of Pattaya.”

Keep up the good work and we look forward to seeing the Chonburi and Siam Steel Mill Services Companies actively participating in the charitable community for many years to come.
