Chatchawal Supachayanont (front row 5th left) GM of Dusit Thani Pattaya leads hotel staff and management during candle donation and merit-making ceremony at the Djittabhawan College for the Promulgation of Buddhism on Sukhumvit Road, Pattaya to mark Asarnha Bucha Day on 11 July. Apart from donating candles, the hotel also brought light bulbs, electric fans and other appliances, flowers, milk and other non-perishable goods to donate to the monks in the temples inside the college compound. The visit was part of its CSR commitments to society and support in preserving the Thai and Buddhist culture. The occasion is also known as the beginning of the Buddhist Rainy Season Retreat and is observed by donating necessities to temples and listening to Buddhist sermons, chants and prayers.


Bangkok Airways announced its collaboration with the Association of Siamese Architect under Royal Patronage to reconstruct school buildings affected by the Chiang Rai earthquake. Bangkok Airways will provide air transportation to architectures and staff who participate in this programme. The Association of Siamese Architect together with the Engineering Institute of Thailand under H.M. the King’s patronage, The Consulting Engineers Association of Thailand, Thai Contractors Association under H.M. the King’s Patronage and the Design for Disasters architect group have joined forces to help rehabilitate Chiang Rai by rebuilding 9 schools, 9 homes and 2 temples as well as attempting to reduce vulnerability in the local community to effectively and sustainably confront a disaster. The reconstruction programme includes; Muang Phan Tambon Administration Organisation School, Ban Tha Hor School, Thanthong Wittaya School, Ban Nong Bua School, Ban Thung Fapha School, Chumchon Ban Pa Kor Dam School, Pong Phrae Wittaya School, Ban Doi Chang School and Ban Huai San Yao School.

Francis and Richard have accepted an invitation from George to become Vice Presidents of Gateshead Supporters (Asia Branch) Club. The supporters’ club meets at Frasers monthly. After Gateshead’s Play Off Final at Wembley against Cambridge United in May, season tickets for 2014/15 season have risen by 80 per cent.


Unithai Shipyard and Engineering, operators of Thailand’s largest shipyard has received a 2014 National Safety Award recently from the Ministry of Labour for excellent performance in safety, health and environmental care in compliance with Welfare and Labour Department regulations, including the establishment of special projects and campaigns to raise employee awareness.

The management team and staff of Banglamung Cable (BTV) together with their families took part in the ‘Auspicious time before entering Buddhist Lent’, merit making ceremonies recently. They paid homage at 9 temples where they made offerings of ‘phansa’ candles and other necessities.
