Pattaya celebrates Chinese New Year Jan. 31 at Lan Po Park

Chinese New Year is just one week
away, falling on Jan. 31 this year.

Pattaya will celebrate Chinese New Year with a festival and Chinese
Girls pageant at Lan Po Park in Naklua Jan. 31.
The festival will celebrate the traditions, art and culture of Chinese
descendants in Thailand and promote tourism to generate income for the Naklua
community. Festivities begin at 5 p.m.
The pageant is open to girls age 9 with Chonburi residency. Scholarships
totaling 48,000 baht will be awarded as prizes.
The festival will also feature cultural shows and concerts, along with dragon
and lion dance shows.
Tourism Promotion Bureau Director Onvara Karapin said the Chinese New Year
Festival is held every year to continue the traditions of the Chinese people.
The event also helps create good relationships among people in the community,
Onvara said.
Parents can enter their daughters in the pageant through Jan. 28 by calling
