A Burmese fishing boat captain was arrested for allegedly killing a
crewmember while high on drugs, then throwing his body overboard.
Su-in Ong, 32, was apprehended at Sattahip’s Suwit fishing pier Dec. 21. Police
recovered the body of Burmese crewmember Tansao, 31, from four meters of water
near the jetty. Investigators discovered blood and a steel bar presumed to be
the murder weapon on board the boat.
Six Cambodian crewmembers, accused of conspiring in the murder, were also taken
into custody. Police believe all the crew had been drinking grain alcohol until
the captain began acting out, then hitting the victim in the head before tossing
him overboard. The captain reportedly confessed to using drugs.
