Pre-teen siblings stranded in Sattahip looking for lost mother

Patcharapol Panrak
Two young children are back with their grandparents after running away from Koh Larn to find their mother in Sattahip.
Police found 10-year-old Plopairin Haruansak and her 8-year-old brother Kittipong sitting at a bus stop at Sukhumvit Soi 41 in Khao Phet around 12:30 a.m. Nov. 15. A 66-year-old woman was keeping watch over the kids, who had scraped together 100 baht in coins for bus fare, but were now out of money.
Plopairin told police her mother had left the two siblings with grandparents on Koh Larn in order to take a job in Sattahip. Never before separated from their mother, the kids broke open their piggy banks and slipped away to find her.
Bunyarat Thongsri noticed the two children on the minibus and when they rang the bell to get out, she decided to go with them, to prevent any harm from coming to the youngsters. Police took the children into custody and helped the look for their mother, while contacting the grandparents to pick them up.
