YASOTHON, Thailand – Minister of Tourism and Sports Surasak Phancharoenworakul has announced plans to promote Yasothon’s cultural traditions, community farmstays, and agricultural tourism through the Tourism for All policy to support local income and high-quality tourism development.
The Tourism Minister, joined by Minister Attached to the Prime Minister’s Office Suksomrauy Wantaneeyakul, Yasothon Governor Chanchai Sornsrivichai, and local officials, inspected key cultural and agricultural sites. Their visit to the Malai Khao Tok Museum at Wat Ho Kong and the Ban Suan Phoem Suk farm stay highlighted the province’s readiness to provide authentic experiences for visitors.
During his policy briefing, Minister Surasak emphasized shifting from volume-based tourism to value-driven experiences. The strategy focuses on promoting Yasothon’s unique cultural heritage, including the popped-rice garland procession during Makha Bucha and the Fai Mong Meng illuminated lantern festival at the end of Buddhist Lent. The ministry aims to attract tourists year-round by positioning these traditions as major national and international events.
The government is also promoting agro-tourism and organic farm stays, enabling tourists to experience traditional local lifestyles and directly support farmers and micro-entrepreneurs. The Minister encouraged local leaders, businesses, and residents to serve as welcoming hosts, maintain safety, and uphold high service standards to help establish Yasothon as a leading secondary tourism destination.
