Weather warning continues for cell phone operators

BANGKOK, Oct 6 – Warnings for heavy rains over the weekend  mostly in Central and Southern provinces, beginning two days ago, are continuing through tomorrow, according to Takorn Tantasith, secretary-general of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC).

He has asked cell phone operators and the Amateur Radio Association (ARA) to be prepared to maintain frequencies and signals.

Mr Takorn’s request to mobile phone operators and the ARA came after the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation issued warnings to governors of Central and Southern provinces about a series of storms.

Mobile phone owners encountering difficulties could file complaints to the NBTC at Tel. number 1200, he added.
