According to Doi Inthanon’s official Facebook page, as many as 4,778 visitors came to witness the special event and enjoy the peak’s winter-like weather on Saturday alone.

Temperatures dropped low enough to freeze morning dew across Chiang Mai’s Doi Inthanon mountain on Sunday (11 Dec), with some observers likening the frost to white sugar.

Park officials said the mountain was covered in frost for the first time in about a month.

The officials noted that the temperature on the mountain peak and at the Kew Mae Pan viewpoint dropped to 4 degrees Celsius during the early morning hours of Sunday, allowing tourists to photograph the spectacular sight of freezing dew.
