Thailand’s Immigration Bureau introduces online visa extension

National police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas and Immigration police commissioner Pol Lt Gen Phakphoomphiphat Sajjaphan launched the ‘e-Extension’ service which stands for “Electronics Extension of Temporary Stay in The Kingdom”.

The Immigration Bureau introduced its ‘e-Extension’ services allowing foreigners to have their visas extended online within only three minutes.

The new service is initially available for expats who live or work for the government sector in Bangkok and need to have their visas extended for the following reasons:

  1. tourism
  2. teaching at the state’s schools
  3. studying at the state’s schools
  4. working for the public sector
  5. previously holding Thai nationality
  6. having families residing in the country
  7. being journalists
  8. practicing teaching or researching at governmental organizations
  9. installing and maintaining machinery
  10. being medical experts
  11. controlling vehicles
  12. being certified and requested by embassies.

Foreigners in such categories can use the ‘e-Extension’ service at Thaiextension.vfsevisa.com and set appointments to meet officials to verify their identity and receive visa stickers.

In the first phase of the ‘e-Extension’ project, service users can get visa stickers at the Immigration Division 1 at Building B in the government complex in Laksi district, Bangkok. (TNA)
