BANGKOK, Thailand – The Royal Thai Embassy in Kuala Lumpur led diplomats from 14 nations to Phuket for the “Diplomatic Journey Trip,” showcasing the “Unseen Phuket” identity and connecting local expertise with global economic and soft power networks.
On May 3, Ambassador of Thailand to Malaysia Lada Phumas hosted a dinner reception at the Beyond Kata Hotel in Phuket to honor representatives from Malaysia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and diplomats from 14 countries participating in the “Diplomatic Journey Trip” themed “Unseen Phuket: From Local Wisdom to Global Connectivity.”
The reception brought together senior local officials and private sector leaders, including the TAT Phuket Office Director Siriwan Seeharach, the Thalang district chief, and executives from Kata Group Resorts and Beyond Hotels. The event provided a platform to welcome the delegation and discuss Phuket’s potential and Thailand’s national development.
The Ambassador stated that the program, held from May 1 to 4, aimed to strengthen public and private sector networks among Thailand, Malaysia, and partner countries. The initiative promotes shared economic interests, especially in border areas and key tourism provinces. Phuket, a major gateway for international travelers with strong ties to Malaysia, was selected to showcase its readiness in sustainable tourism, real estate, the digital economy, and medical wellness.
During the visit, the delegation conducted field studies to experience Phuket’s diverse attractions and observe how the province integrates cultural heritage with sustainable community income. The dinner highlighted Thai soft power through a menu featuring local ingredients and cultural performances. This event not only promoted tourism but also supported future economic cooperation and investment between Thailand, Malaysia, and the international community. (NNT)
