TAT officials announce GSTC 2026 in Phuket, bringing 700 participants from dozens of countries to discuss sustainable tourism, resilient cities, and eco-friendly practices.

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has announced plans to host the Global Sustainable Tourism Conference 2026 (GSTC 2026) in Phuket province from April 21 to 24, supporting the country’s role in the international tourism sector. The event is being organized in collaboration with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau and the Sustainable Tourism Development Foundation, with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council overseeing the program.

The conference aligns with the government’s strategy to prioritize value over volume while strengthening long-term resource management across the tourism industry. GSTC, which sets global standards for sustainable travel and hospitality, will use the event to advance practical approaches across destinations, hotels, and attractions.

Phuket’s selection underscores its readiness as an international conference destination, supported by developed infrastructure, efficient transport systems, and coordination across public and private sectors. The province continues to expand its reputation as a global tourism hub while balancing growth with environmental and community considerations. Around 700 participants from 30 to 50 countries are expected to attend, including policymakers, industry leaders, and sustainability experts.

Key discussions will cover sustainable hospitality, resilient cities and communities, and the management of visitor capacity and distribution. The event will also adopt environmentally responsible practices, including zero-waste operations, reduced paper use through digital tools, and eco-friendly materials. (NNT)
