BANGKOK, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand received the Weibo Thailand Best Travel Destination Country award at the Weibo Gala 2026, highlighting the country’s ongoing appeal to high-value Chinese tourists. The Weibo Cultural Communication Night, held at Siam Paragon Hall on August 8, 2026, also marked the 51st anniversary of Thai-Chinese diplomatic relations. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool stated that supporting the gala aligns with the agency’s strategy to attract quality travelers through major digital platforms and the entertainment industry.
The event brought together leading artists, influencers, and media professionals who shape current travel trends. Officials noted that this recognition demonstrates effective cross-sector collaboration to raise tourism standards and create memorable experiences. To enhance market engagement, the agency is implementing a content marketing strategy to strengthen cultural connections. Chinese actors He Changxi and He Yanzhao visited key destinations such as Koh Samet in Rayong province and Bangkok’s Song Wat and Talat Noi districts.
At the same time, Thai actor Apo Nattawin and the character Butterbear traveled to China to promote Thai culture, cuisine, and lifestyle. This bilateral exchange strengthens Thai soft power and supports ongoing marketing campaigns by TAT offices in China, including Amazing Thailand, The Journey Your Heart Leads, and Thailand and China are One Family initiatives. Through these initiatives, the government aims to offer personalized travel experiences that reflect individual preferences, fostering long-term trust and strengthening the relationship between the two nations.
