Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with Takahiro Mori of Nippon Steel Corporation to discuss expanding industrial cooperation, green steel production, and new investment opportunities as Thailand works to strengthen its manufacturing sector and long-term economic competitiveness.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with Takahiro Mori, Vice Chairman of the Board and Executive Vice President of Nippon Steel Corporation, yesterday (May 219), to discuss Thailand’s steel industry and expand industrial cooperation.

The prime minister welcomed Nippon Steel’s continued investment in Thailand, citing its contribution to the industrial sector and overall economic growth. The government also made clear its support for additional private-sector investment to deepen trade and investment ties between Thailand and Japan.



Discussions covered the development of Thailand’s steel industry, including its transition toward environmentally responsible production, support for domestic entrepreneurs, and related trade measures. Both sides also addressed scrap steel management and the role of a circular economy in the sector.

Anutin informed Mori and the Japanese delegation that the government is working to improve industrial standards and maintain a business-friendly environment to enhance long-term competitiveness, adding that continued cooperation will support sustainable growth in both economies. (NNT)
